One to watch: Alexandre Delima
This Peru born, French-American designer has burst onto the scene with a first collection. The collection ranged from daytime to grand gala evening wear with variants on 14 silhouettes, a mature well constructed collection and an excellent spring-board to beoming a name in the world of French fashion.
To provide an insight to the man behind the designs, Alexandre takes inspiration from the realm of hip hop and well as sci-fi films and has been a DJ in his time.
Alexandre makes play with effects of transparency/opacity, matt/shiny and constructed fluidity. He uses a strongly contrasting palette ranging from optic white, off-whites, anthracite, black and coal.
His work features mechanical, Calder-like geometry in metal blue plaque embroidery and broadly-sketched cuts. Rigid and jointed belts/corsets in fine gold plated brass or tortoiseshell. For Alexandre Delima “Energy and a feline quality represent the very essence of the eternal feminine ideal, and my vision of it”
