Sabi Phagura heads to Nikki Beach Marbella to experience the ultimate beach club concept
Introduced to the world in 1998 by entrepreneur Jack Penrod, Nikki Beach is the ultimate beach club concept combining the elements of entertainment, dining, music, fashion and art into one. Starting out in Miami, the Nikki Beach concept has grown internationally and has carved itself out as a global luxury lifestyle and hospitality brand.
And like the other resorts dotted around the globe in sought after locations, Nikki Beach Marbella is located on one of the finest white sandy beaches on the Costa del Sol. Having re-launched in 2014 following extensive renovations, it is three times the size it was 12 years ago, with an extended pool area and a VIP section.
It’s adorned in plush, all‐white beach sun beds, chic drapery and white teepees. It boasts one of the prime spots along the seafront and attracts the world’s most glamorous jet setters.
It’s internationally renowned as the “Sexiest Place on Earth” and taking one look at the opening White Launch Party it was easy to understand why. The resort was brimming with glamorous guests dressed head-to-toe in white with a glass of fine champagne in hand and eating from Nikki Beach signature sushi boats. Feet-tapping music played in the background as we enjoyed the views of the Mediterranean Sea. The place oozed sophistication and the army of entertainers, performing acrobats and elaborate dance routines rivalled any Hollywood event.
The White Party is hosted across Nikki Beach locations globally and celebrates the launch of the summer season. The Nikki Beach brand is strongly rooted in the concept of celebrating life in memory of Mr Penrod’s daughter Nikki who tragically died in a car crash in 1997. This attitude evidently filtered from the staff through to the guests as they left life’s worries at the door and partied the night away as did I.
The hangover from the night before is dealt with by enjoying the lavish Recovery Brunch in the al fresco restaurant. Culinary highlights included fresh locally caught seafood, sushi platters and seasonal salads with an international twist. Everything looked pristine and was beautifully presented. There’s lots of healthy food options too, including gluten-free varieties for those wanting to keep an eye on their figure, ensuring they look good as they lay around on the white Bali Beds soaking up the sun and the atmosphere.
Spend the day sipping on fizz or cocktails from luxurious loungers or indeed sway to the live music pumping in the background whenever the urge rises. You may even be able to do a spot of celebrity spotting. A-lister fans of this resort include Eva Longoria, Michelle Rodriguez Lionel Richie and FloRida.
Throughout July and August, guests can enjoy al fresco dining on Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s. From 8pm until midnight they can indulge in a range of light bites, salads with an international twist and the famous sushi and ceviche dragon boats fresh from the Mediterranean. Signature dishes include Miami Beach chicken salad, slow roasted, free range rotisserie chicken, served with a Provencal herb jus; and Peruvian sea bass ceviche, tossed with a spicy red chilli and lime dressing, red onions, coriander and avocado.
Those wishing to extend their party lifestyle on the resort can book into nearby hotels. We stayed at five star The Oasis by Don Carlos Resort just a skip away. Located within the grounds of the Don Carlos Leisure Resort & Spa and open since July 2013, the luxurious The Oasis by Don Carlos Resort is a place where guests can experience a truly unique holiday of wellness and pampering.
And just as it launched the season in style, Nikki Beach Marbella closes the season with equal gusto. The annual Red Party is to be held on October 4 this year and will celebrate the official end of the summer. But remember Mr Penrod’s ethos is that life should be celebrated daily so don’t put off celebrations until next year’s launch party.
Tickets for the Red Party cost 100€, with VIP table packages also available.
