Hurlingham Park will host the Chestertons Polo in the Park event for three days in June from the 9th to the 11th. The festival will play host to various food stalls, children’s activities, Champagne bars and bands, who will entertain the crowds when they are not captivated by the first-class sporting prowess on display.
When you think of London, wide open green spaces are not the first thing that springs to mind, so Polo, the sport of kings being played in the capital, might seem a little strange. However, as diverse as the two worlds would appear, Hurlingham Park, a name synonymous with the sport, actually lies in Fulham.
Hurlingham has been the spiritual home of Polo since 1875, and it is here that the Hurlingham Polo Committee created the first formal rules of the game.
In June 2023, it will play host to the 11th annual Chestertons Polo in the Park competition and festival, bringing all the flair and passion of the equine sport into the city.
Chestertons is one of London’s most respected and oldest estate agencies, with an extensive network across London and international offices across five continents. The company is one of the most socially active, and Chestertons has been the headline sponsor for over a decade. It has developed into the largest three-day polo festival globally.
Friday 9th – Sunday 11th June sees the international polo event feature teams from across the globe, VIP hospitality, an impressive food market with an array of new food and drink partners, and fun for all the family on Sunday.
Thanks to Champagne Lanson, Guinness and Fever-Tree, you can enjoy pitch side gardens and bars. If you want to watch the Polo while socialising inside, you can enjoy the AspenX Polo Club, or if you want to dance, there is live music in the Mahiki tent. Sheerluxe will be leading the Shopping Village with leading Brands attending, and don’t forget to eat at the stunning street stalls part of the Fulham Food Festival.
The main event, the Polo competition, sees six teams from cities across the globe competing for the trophy. London, Buenos Aires, New York and Sydney are represented.
Friday, 9th June, is Cudo Compute International Day, presented by CITY AM and set to be action-packed. The England Polo team v Ireland Polo will headline the matches, and then in the competition, the six city teams will face each other in a round-robin affair. Friday is perfect if you are thinking of entertaining clients, family and friends or hosting a staff party.
Lady’s Day is on Saturday, 10th June and is presented by Sheerluxe, so put your best clothes on and hopefully enjoy the sunshine whilst experiencing the fast-paced Polo.
You can sip on Champagne at one of the bars, enjoy the live music and indulge in some shopping from a collection of independent fashion brands.
Designer Sunglasses from Finlay & Co will be available, or you can purchase some premium Polo apparel from La Mariposa and sustainable fashion brands, including Nue Hoops and Augustine Jewels.
Family Day is Sunday, 11th June, and a fitting finale to the three-day festival of Polo. Sunday morning starts with a ‘pitch invasion’, which hosts London’s largest kids’ party led by the famous and much-loved children’s party entertainers Sharky and George.
There will also be much to entertain younger visitors, including arts and crafts, face painting, giant inflatable slides and castles, and the opportunity to learn to play Polo.
The children can also improve their rugby and football skills or bounce the day away in the Little Hooves Kids Club. The afternoon sees the culmination of the festival, as the champions are crowned, followed by the Chestertons Polo in the Park ultimate London garden party to finish the weekend off in style.
