Ong Chin Huat checks out Kuala Lumpur’s hottest spot Shook! and experiences a lively night of food, music and magic.
Stuck in Kuala Lumpur on a Saturday and don’t know where to go or what to do? Fret no more because at Shook!, in the heart of KL’s Golden Triangle – a shopping, dining and entertainment mecca – is just the place to liven up your Saturday Night with its new dining concept appropriately called Saturday Night Vibes.
A restaurant serving an array of international cuisine, Shook! is part of the Feast Village in Starhill Gallery at the JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur which has carved its name among the hip, trendy and chic of the Malaysian capital. Newly introduced just last month, the Cirque du Culinaire experience combines mouth-watering Asian and European fare with some of the coolest tunes performed by the country’s finest musical talents.
“Shook! is more than just about the amazing food. It is about the holistic experience where our guests excite all of their senses through a medley of curated expressions of self that include food, music and magic. A Cirque du Culinaire, this unique dining concept offers only the freshest ingredients from our various show kitchens; serves handcrafted desserts as you are being entertained by our very own magician, entertainers, and even clowns; and lets you begin your evening with good company. Saturday nights will be like never before as Saturday Night Vibes gets your weekend started on the right note,” said Joerg Hontheim, General Manager of Feast Village.
Among the tasty dishes served at Shook! are Snow White Dancing Prawns, (deep-fried light golden prawns smothered in hot mayonnaise and sprinkled generously with chopped honey-glazed walnuts) and Roasted Garlic Chilli Chicken (Traditional Spanish pan-seared minced chicken with chopped garlic, shallots and bird’s eye chilli. Served with creamy white sauce and garnished with crunchy garlic, chopped parsley and Spanish paprika to add a touch of zest.)
For the main course, there is a choice of different dishes including King Prawn Noodles (Egg noodles are deep-fried until crispy and golden brown; served with aromatic ginger, garlic, egg and prawn gravy topped with fresh, succulent water prawns.) and Seafood Paella Sentidos (A popular Spanish dish cooked with saffron, paprika and seafood stock served with fresh tiger prawns, mussels, clams and squid.)
For dessert, the Bomb Alaska Cake or the Crepe Suzette will most definitely add that special zing to your Saturday night.
And if these served dishes are still not enough to fill you up, there a curated buffet which includes a unique combination of signature dishes from the collection of restaurants at Feast Village such as Fisherman’s Cove, Luk Yu Tea House, Sentidos Gastrobar – The Latin Grill, and Khushi Spice.
And to round up your weekend, each Saturday night will see a different performer take the stage with mesmerizing renditions of well-loved tunes. Kicking off with Fazz, the other acts include Q Sound, one of the most dynamic trombonists from The Julliard School in New York, Evelyn Feroza and Jumero.
