On Tuesday, February 4th, the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium joined distinguished guests and judges at the British Museum to celebrate the second edition of the Casello d’Oro Awards, which were given out to the thirteen winning dairies of the 2024 Palii del Parmigiano Reggiano.
At the British Museum, in the company of Inigo Lambertini, the Italian Ambassador to the UK, an international jury awarded the thirteen winners of the Palii 2024, alongside two Special Mentions for the Parmigiano Reggiano boasting the best aromatic profile and the best structure.
Both Special Mentions went to the Caseificio dell’Emilia dairy in Varana di Serramazzoni, which is in the Modena Province. Hosting the evening was Britain’s Valentina Harris, who is well known for her knowledge of Italian cuisine.
For the past twelve years, annual competitions, known as ‘Palio del Parmigiano Reggiano’ have been held across Modena, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Mantua to the right of the River Po and Bologna to the left of the River Reno
Each of the dairies participates by registering a sample of 24-26-month-old Parmigiano Reggiano, which certified tasters judge on behalf of the Parmigiano Reggiano consortium. In addition to the 24-26 month aged entries, two dairies also received prizes for their 40-month maturations.

- Latteria Agricola Arrivabene (Poggio Rusco, province of Mantova) – Winner of the Palio dei Caseifici dell’Oltrepò Mantovano (Gonzaga, province of Mantova)
- Latteria Sociale Cavecchia (Reggiolo, province of Reggio Emilia) – Winner of the Palio di San Lucio (Guastalla, province of Reggio Emilia)
- Latteria Sociale San Giorgio (Casina, province of Reggio Emilia) – Winner of the Palio Città di Casina (Casina, province of Reggio Emilia) with the 40-month maturation
