The innovative and creative Italian design company ARES has unveiled a limited-edition open-top supercar, whose looks rival and betters most everything coming off of better-known supercar and hypercar production lines.
Speeding through the beautiful scenery of Tuscany on a warm evening with your top off is appealing and even better when you are behind the wheel of an Italian supercar. I refer to the missing top from the Targa designed ARES S1 Speedster Open-Air newly launched by the luxury Coachbuilder.
Sadly I haven’t driven the new car anywhere, let alone Tuscany, but from the looks and details I have read, I am sure the S1 Speedster Open-Air will be whipped up by enthusiasts who love Italian sports cars that can be driven how they are meant to be. The creations from ARES are pieces of automotive art to be enjoyed by being used and not remaining static in a garage containing many other vehicles.
The S1 Speedster features a wraparound, streamlined windscreen showing an evolution from the S1 Spyder, and with gorgeous harmonised lines, it blends with the strong lines of the Carbon Fibre body. The cockpit is enveloped in its entirety by glass surfaces, which connect in a single, ideal line with the rear engine bonnet above the headrests.
The windshield plays a vital part in allowing the occupants open-air driving without the hassle of wind buffeting and noise, enabling you to get a comfortable palpable experience on every journey.
The launch of the new S1 Speedster allows ARES Modena’s Centro Stile to introduce some essential design updates to the S1 Project coupe. The alterations are as aesthetic as they are functional, dictated by the search for the best compromise between style, aerodynamic efficiency and safety. The most significant modifications at the front, wholly revamped headlight units, have been introduced while maintaining the sleek volumes and curved shapes.
These units now have a horizontal layout and use full LEDs with a characteristic cross motif, a reference to the heraldic coat of arms of the city of Modena, the birthplace of ARES. Above the main body of the headlights, delicate Daylight Running Lights DRLs give impetus to the design of the S1 Project and integrate the indicators.
Every ARES Modena project allows you the owner customisation possibilities, virtually endless in terms of colours, finishes and materials. The work of the Modenese designers has not left out the S1 Project’s interior, which was completely revised to optimise and emphasise the dynamic experience of the occupants.
The characteristic “domes” above the cockpit remain, but there are new seats and a new infotainment system with three different displays: the one in front of the driver communicates with the large central screen and a smaller one for the passenger.
However, in the cabin’s centre, the exposed carbon fibre tunnel remains in full view: a choice dictated by the desire to leave exposed a portion of the S1 Project’s “soul”, intrinsically tied to this precious material.
The S1 Speedster is powered by a mid-mounted naturally aspirated V8 engine connected to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox powering the rear wheels. Giving voice to this exciting powertrain is an exhaust system with outlets located directly on the rear bonnet.
The S1 Speedster’s bodywork is made entirely of handmade Carbon Fibre, and its shape has been optimised through in-depth CFD analysis. This extensive aerodynamic study was necessary to ensure that the car has an incisive and recognisable design, perfect engine cooling, and balanced dynamic handling.
The intention is to have a vehicle with superb, predictable handling enabling sensational fun on track and roads. ARES want the car to be driven and the owners to love using their Speedsters.
CEO and co-founder of ARES Modena Dany Bahar said, “Since the presentation of the S1 Spyder, we saw that there was great interest in an open version of the S1 Project, but that many enthusiasts would prefer a design that combines the excitement of driving an open car with enhanced comfort: S1 Speedster was created to meet exactly this demand, while also introducing many improvements to the design that we will also see on the Coupé version of S1 Project. It is a crucial and fascinating moment for the S1 Project and ARES Modena as a whole.”
The ARES S1 Speedster will be limited to 24 units, completely tailor-made. The order book is now open, with a price communicated upon request.
