We’ve followed Armit Wines for a while now and have been nothing but impressed. It seems we are not the only ones as a recent report from TechSci Research has named the fine wine merchants as one of the key players in the organic wine market.

An increase in demand from women and millennials, coupled with a rise in production of organic wines is reported to be the key reason behind the growth in the category, a trend reflected across channels supplied by Armit Wines including the on-trade, off-trade and private customers.

Armit Wines has a strong portfolio of 25 organic producers, including 11 certified, and its list is set to expand further.

Managing Director of Armit Wines, Brett Fleming, says: “Organics are a key component in the future sustainability of any premium producer focused on terroir and quality. That is not to say only these measures make great wines, but it is fair to suggest at Armit Wines we favour those that do.

Vintage variation, expression of terroir, the very people behind the effort and challenges they face all combine to give real points of difference at the same time as respecting the environment we take so much from. As distributors in the fine wine market, we will continue to represent growers who are deeply connected to their land, whether certified or not.”

According to the Global Organic Wine Market Report produced by TechSci Research the availability of a wide variety wines and expansion of organic vineyards is expected to propel the demand for organic wine market over the next five years. Additionally, increased awareness and consciousness towards health and the harmful effects of alcohol is also propelling the demand for organic wine around the world.

Head of Off-Trade for Armit Wines, Fraser Currie, adds: “As a business looking for longer-term partners in the off-trade, acknowledging the importance of these factors is paramount. All customers in the off-trade are increasingly looking for organic and sustainable sources for the wines they sell.

Having more than just a token appreciation, but placing these at the core of our business, reflects the quality and expertise of the winemakers we support. This can only help us grow in such a competitive marketplace.”

Armit Wines has welcomed the Report which also says the market is anticipated to undergo substantial growth in the next five years.

Head of London Sales for Armit Wines, Caroline Brangé, says: “Sustainable and organic wines are in the DNA of Armit Wines. With consumers becoming more organic savvy, London’s restaurant scene has been answering the demand and became loyal supporters of our producers who stood out of the crowd.

Some restaurants have based their entire concepts around these values, making not only their wine selection but their entire food menus and operation as sustainable as possible. It is a key advantage of Armit Wines and one of the reasons why our customers come to us.”
