At only 22, he has now become the second youngest player in history to reach the top position. Over the past six months, he has managed to rank in the Top 5 at 10 out of the 11 consecutive tournaments he played.
The young Northern Irish golfer fulfilled his predicted destiny on March 4th, 2012. He won The Honda Classic in Florida with 12 shots under par and a 2-shot margin over Tiger Woods and Tom Gillis.
Two other Audemars Piguet Ambassadors joined Rory in the Top 10 of the Honda Classic; Lee Westwood finished 4th and Graeme McDowell 9th. With these good results they consolidated their 3rd and 15th positions respectively in the Official World Golf Ranking.
