Leaping from one indulgence to another, food is plentiful here. From the slow food breakfast buffet to afternoon tea (which consists of full meals alongside scrummy Austrian pastries and cakes), to a four-course dinner accompanied by an additional starter and dessert buffet, nothing is overlooked.
A separate buffet cart which is height friendly for children, also takes a firm spot in the restaurant. It’s in line with keeping the hotel’s promise of being family friendly which offers children’s Splash Waterworld, Kids Club and a teenagers’ media room.
Those with allergies are well catered for without having to compromise on taste. As a gluten-free diner, I really couldn’t fault any of my meals, but I did have a favourite – the pike perch fish with coriander mayo served with asparagus. It was so good I had it twice during my stay. Short roasted smoked rump steak, crispy slice of char and French Mireal pigeon are just some of the delightful dishes that can be found on the menu. Just make sure you don’t overdo the generous buffet before tucking into the main meal. A mistake I admit to have had made on more than one occasion during meal times.
Entertainment doesn’t just extend to the bar area here, although you can certainly throw some shapes on the dance floor on evenings where there is a live band. On various nights, the hotel hosts spirit tasting from the local area as well as hold local cheese and tasting events. But if spirits aren’t your thing, you could always make a start on the 500 plus wines kept in the cellars. There are some Austrian wines such as the Ornellaia Bianco which can only be found in three places across the country.
You could really risk piling on the pounds here with all that food, but help is at hand in the form of organised hiking tours, runs, aqua fit and yoga classes. Sadly due to poor weather, the hiking tours were cancelled, so I took myself out on a good few solo hikes which are easy to navigate and incredibly beautiful. I’m a real outdoor girl, so it was lovely to be able to walk for miles on end, and catch the bus to the neighbouring towns of Serfaus and Ladis. And of course, with the free cable pass offered to hotel guests, I was able to go freely up into the mountains on further hikes. Adventure really does start with that first step.
