Ava Innes, the Scottish luxury sustainable bedding brand, has announced the successful completion of its first round of investment from new investors, including Kelvin Capital and Scottish Enterprise. This milestone is set to propel the brand forward in its mission to redefine the standards of quality sleep.
Two highly experienced Scottish business leaders have joined the board to help lead Ava Innes’s expansion into the consumer and luxury hospitality market. Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne, founder of Genius Foods and Chair of Scotland Food & Drink, joins alongside Craig Samuel, GlobalScot and renowned advisor to several UK and US-based start-ups, who has been appointed Company Chairman.
Founded in Elgin by entrepreneur Joan Johnston, Ava Innes has gained widespread recognition for its innovative patented duvet. Notable for its exceptional temperature-regulating qualities, an impressive 93 per cent of customers report experiencing improved sleep since adopting the Ava Innes bedding.
Joan said, “Ava Innes helps people to sleep better naturally with our unique patented cashmere and wool duvet. The superior sleeping experience has contributed to Ava Innes’ rising popularity, and combined with our commitment to placing the highest sustainable standards at the heart of the company, is continuing to resonate with consumers across the world.
The infusion of investment capital marks a pivotal moment for the company. It will allow us to maximise global interest and presence, enhance our product offerings, and further champion sustainability in the luxury bedding industry, all made within the UK.”
John McNicol, Director of Kelvin Capital, added, “The investment into Ava Innes is the perfect example of our commitment to investing in people and teams. The knowledge and experience of both the founder, Joan Johnston, and the advisory team make this an exciting opportunity for Kelvin Capital.”
Kerry Sharp, Entrepreneurship and Investment, Scottish Enterprise, said, “Encouraging innovative firms such as Elgin-based Ava Innes to commercialise and scale is a priority for Scottish Enterprise. This funding will allow Founder Joan Johnston to deliver potential growth opportunities and scale the sustainable products business.”
