The Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes is convinced it will be reopening its doors to guests in May. With the return of fine weather, Cannes remains one of Europe’s most attractive destinations, and in readiness for the expected influx of visitors, the hotel has lined up an exclusive programme of experiences that will delight every guest.
Recent announcements by the French government have generated a wave of optimism throughout the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes. If everything goes according to plan, as soon as the current lockdown is over, the palace-hotel in Cannes will be able to welcome back its guests under the best operational conditions possible. The prospect of this has led its management team to intensively plan for reopening in the first half of May.
The Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes team has had to endure months of inactivity, and obviously, their patience was wearing thin. Although the staff at this five-star property remained enthusiastic, they were well aware that the world was yet to see the end of the “Covid” chapter.
Instead of becoming negative, the staff had an unwavering belief that some semblance of normality would soon be returning. They set about planning for the health and safety of their guests whilst offering them all the benefits of a stay along the Croisette: namely, a sense of wellbeing, excitement and discovery and the sharing of new experiences.
All this effort has resulted in what they’ve titled the Majestic Experiences programme. Let’s take a closer look at what this offers:
Rediscovering the pleasures of dining
All of these can be enjoyed solo, as a couple or a family, within the hotel and throughout the region around Cannes. All of Le Majestic’s staff have been mobilised to make this happen, and this started with the team at Le Fouquet’s Cannes.
If everything goes as planned, from mid-May onwards, food-lovers will be able to dine on the terrace of this famous brasserie overseen by one of the world’s leading chefs, Pierre Gagnaire at Paradiso Nicole et Pierre. On offer will be a refined ode to Mediterranean flavours along the same lines as what he created with Nicole Rubi, the queen of Southern French cooking.
Guests will also be able to return to La Plage Barrière Le Majestic to enjoy a meal at BFire by Mauro Colagreco. However, while waiting for this to happen, where else can you enjoy lunch or dinner? And what if the sun takes a short leave of absence? Or what if you prefer not to sit outside on a cool spring evening?
To cater to all these eventualities and to ensure a true gourmet dining experience for guests, Le Fouquet’s Cannes has enhanced its room service menu with some of its best recipes. Guests will be able to enjoy delicacies such as “duck foie gras terrine and smoked duck magret, chestnut purée with coffee, and toasted brioche”, “haddock and smoked salmon tartare with red beetroot syrup and horseradish”, “grilled salmon steak, button mushrooms with sorrel and beurre blanc”.
And if you’re after something extra-special, why not give the “lobster salad with fresh herbs and Koh-Taen condiments” a try, coupled with an exceptional wine from one of France’s leading estates?
If you’re not sure about what to choose, the sommelier at Le Majestic is always on hand (either in your room or suite) to suggest one of the many superb wines in Le Majestic’s cellar. Or if you truly want to, as we say in England, ‘push the boat out,’ how about a private dinner on the terrace of the Majestic penthouse (the finest suite in the hotel), where equal pleasure can be found on your plate and from the stunning views of the sea and the Lérins Islands.
Shared experiences, moments of true happiness
At the same time as ensuring that your tastebuds are well looked after, the Majestic has adopted a similar approach to families. As part of the Majestic Experiences programme, the hotel has converted meeting spaces into games rooms, where young and old alike can play billiards, table football, the latest video games and classic board games.
Another feature that will delight every generation is the private Diane screening room, where guests can enjoy an authentic cinema experience (re)watching some of the silver screen’s great classic movies.
Lastly, the Studio by Petit VIP, created specifically for children aged 4-12, has redesigned and reorganised its programmes to favour outdoor activities to ensure the maximum health and safety of younger visitors.
While their offspring are enjoying themselves, parents can take their pick from a whole host of exciting Majestic Experiences that will cater to their every need. If you need to recharge your batteries, the personalised beauty treatments at the Spa Diane Barrière by Biologique Recherche could be just the thing.
If you’re keen on learning a new skill, the palace-hotel at 10, La Croisette has brought together a team of experts to run an array of workshops. These include cooking lessons, mixology classes with Emanuele Balestra, one of the world’s best bartenders, and casino game lessons for beginners, ranging from blackjack to poker, with a croupier from one of Barrière’s Casinos in Cannes.
For those with a thirst for adventure, the Hôtel Barrière has teamed up with a number of different partners to offer its guests a choice of unique activities. You can even join a nationally qualified instructor for an introduction to scuba diving in a swimming pool – a prelude, perhaps, to your first underwater dive.
There’s also an experienced skipper is also on hand to welcome guests onboard a boat. The skipper will whisk them off on an adventure exploring some of the French Riviera’s most beautiful sights or, for a day of big-game fishing, pitting their wits against red tuna, swordfish and marlin.
Switching from the deep blue sea to the region’s azure skies, an instructor/pilot awaits our guests onboard a helicopter for their first flying lesson; alternatively, paragliding and parachuting experts are also on hand for those guests keen to experience the excitement that comes from their first tandem paragliding flight or a parachute jump.
Alongside these thrilling adventures, the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes will also be inviting its guests to enjoy many other experiences from May onwards. These are experiences that the Côte d’Azur has always offered, such as its picturesque villages, hiking routes, islands, vineyards, artisan visits etc.
Covid has not changed the landscape here, as the French Riviera remains one of the world’s most beautiful regions. There can be no better place for guests visiting the area to stay than the nigh-on century-old Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes.
What they have lined up for guests in 2021 look amazing; all you need to do is make a booking and allow them to demonstrate their own very special brand of luxury.
