Beaverbrook, the glamorous English country house hotel in Surrey, is now open, and for 2021, the beacon of British hospitality has unveiled a delicious range of dining options that draw their inspiration from near and far.
If you’re after a special treat this year to make up for the seemingly endless restrictions, one of the finest places you can head to is Beaverbrook. This gorgeous country house hotel is world-renowned when it comes to splendour and hospitality, and if anything, they’ve upped the ante for 2021.
Beaverbrook has curated a wide array of enticing dining options in what will come as excellent news for the gourmand. Let’s take a closer look at what guests can look forward to:
Alfresco thrills
Harnessing the emerald beauty of its Surrey Hills estate, Beaverbrook will elevate outdoor dining with a choice of two new signature experiences. Green-fingered, garden-loving guests can opt for the Italian-style Garden Table: a private-dining feast designed for sharing, ensconced in Beaverbrook’s spectacular grounds.
Another fantastic alternative will be the opportunity to settle into one of six stationary hot-air balloons for a meal with added whimsy and nostalgia, temporarily grounded within the breathtaking, view-toting Italian Gardens. The Reach for the Sky dining experience features a bespoke set menu from the Japanese Grill, beloved for its superb sushi, sashimi and other delicacies.
The Garden Table
Beaverbrook is putting an Italian spin on private dining via its new Garden Table experience. Courtesy of The Garden House Restaurant and under the watchful eye of Head Chef Barret Jones, this culinary extravaganza will debut a sunny Italian Summer Feast menu. It includes nibbles such as Sardinian flatbreads and big green olives; starters of honey-drizzled zucchini flowers and artisan burrata with home-grown rhubarb; and a duo of moreish mains: grilled Cornish hake with asparagus and vanilla vinaigrette, or whole-roasted Gressingham duck with plum jam, cucumber and celery salt.
It is recommended for those with a sweet tooth that they save room for classic apple Tarte Tatin, embellished with Calvados ice cream.
Set in a secluded patch of the Beaverbrook Estate and shaded by a wooden canopy, The Garden Table can seat up to six guests. Artful seasonal flower arrangements will decorate this romantic, Midsummer Night’s Dream-worthy scene; cosy blankets and hot water bottles will remain close to hand, should the weather turn a little… ahem, British. Beaverbrook can also arrange artisan, chef-prepped picnics for guests and members to enjoy in the leafy privacy of their favourite part of the estate.
The opportunity to imagine dining in the clouds
Temporarily grounded within Beaverbrook’s magnificent Italian gardens, each one of these vintage-style, ruby-and-pink-striped beauties can seat up to six people in wood and wicker comfort. An authentic menu from the Japanese Grill will be served with a generous portion of estate views.
The Yakiniku Menu starts with a selection of Japanese amuse-bouches and cocktails. A spectacular sushi and sashimi sharing platter is then followed by a selection of the finest meats (including Japanese Wagyu Beef from Kobe and Kyushu Island, Acorn-Fed Iberian Pork and Wild Cured Deer) and vegetables to grill tableside. To finish, a selection of fluffy, sweet puddings inspired by clouds.
Seasonal attractions
In a revamp, spring-inspired menus will also be served at the Japanese Grill and The Garden House Restaurant: whose decor echoes the scenic Surrey Hills setting and whose menus champion the generosity of Mother Nature.
Highlights of the Japanese Grill’s Spring Kaiseki tasting menu include red bream Usuzukuri with yuzu ponzu and fresh truffles, lemon sole with shiso and crispy kombu, and a ‘beehive’ dessert featuring honey, yuzu and birch.
Over at The Garden House, guests can enjoy treats such as torched Loch Duart salmon with rock oyster, spring onion and dill, and other, similarly summery fayres, such as spaghetti Vongole with native clams, cherry tomatoes, chilli and garlic. Artisan picnics, pizzas and cold-pressed juices will add to the hotel’s playful, spontaneous holiday feel.
Pizzas, pressed juices and much more
In other mouthwatering, made-in-Beaverbrook news, the much-missed Pizzeria at The Deli will also reopen on 21st June. To mark its return, the Deli is proudly launching a new partnership with vegan kitchen and cold-pressed juice company, The Juice Smith (whose Harrods pop-up and nearby Cobham outpost have garnered many loyal fans). Last but not least, the Robin’s Nest Bar will open at The Garden House in place of the snug bar, ready for spring and summer. Yet another reason to say ‘cheers!’…
