Ong Chin Huat takes a closer look at the Swiss Watchmaking brand Bedat & Co and marvels at the quality of its workmanship and attractive designs.
Founded by Madame Simone Bédat, the eponymously named Swiss watch company is luxurious, feminine, coveted and stylish all in the same breath.
With a wealth of invaluable experience she gained in the Swiss Watchmaking industry, Bedat & Co was born infusing the very best technical know-how with the aesthetic tradition of Art Deco-inspired designs.
Pioneering diamonds set on stainless steel, Bedat & Co Genève embodies Madame Bedat’s passion and taste, catering for women who are single-minded in their pursuit of the very best life has to offer. She herself is a pioneer as one of the very few women in the Swiss Watch industry. With five collections offering a diverse range of choice to women of all ages, Bedat & Co looks as good in the boardroom as it does on the deck of a super yacht.
“After a Lifetime in the Swiss watch-making industry watching 50% of the world’s population being ignored, I decided to do something. BEDAT & Co was that something; a luxury timepiece brand founded by a woman for women.” -Mme Simone Bédat, Founder of Bedat & Co Geneve.
The sleek and sensual curves of a Bedat & Co timepiece have sophistication and class encoded in its DNA. Whether it’s the tonneau shape of the No. 3 Collection or the graphic interplay of the two ellipses of the No. 2 Collection or the elegance of the original round case of the No.8 Collection, a Bedat & Co timepiece makes a statement of any women’s wrists and turn heads whenever they are worn.
The No. 7 Collection is a popular choice among ladies with its overall rectangular shape and slight curve at 3 and 9 o’clock, giving it a unique look. The number 7 is also symbolic because it represents eternal life in ancient Egypt and stands for a complete cycle. The number lies at the core of various superstitions and expresses stages of maturity and the passing generations. Its deeper meaning reveals insights and thoughts with hindsight and awareness leading to humans considering the impact of their actions.
The most luxurious model of the No. 7 Collection is available in both translucide Opaline white or pink dial, with the stainless steel case set with 62 diamonds glittering around the bezel. Black Roman numerals add the touch of class to this contemporary timepiece while the blue steel hands sweep elegantly across the dial. Diamonds are placed on the four corners of the dial and it is available in a rolled-edge, hand-stitched alligator strap or a stainless steel “mille mailles” bracelet.
