McLaren Automotive put their MSO section to work, enhancing the already spectacular Hypercar, the Senna.
If you are one of the fortunate few who has purchased a £750k McLaren Senna, and they are all sold, you will be delighted to know you can now spend some more money on styling it to meet your own personal requirements.
McLaren Special Operations department (MSO) has started producing superb options to enhance your already fantastic car.
The Special Operations section was set up in 2011 to produce bespoke cars to meet every possible requirement of their super-rich customers. Literally handmade touches to models the automotive division manufactures.
Each unit is unique, with upgrades, colours and equipment all varying according to owners’ tastes. MSO offers five levels of service, with the Ultimate level being crafting one-off cars.
- Defined means personalisation for Superseries vehicles, such as lightweight panels and aerodynamics.
- Bespoke permits the customisation of limitless possibilities, body trim colours or unique bodywork.
- Limited creates limited edition versions of existing models.
- Heritage is a commitment to all F1 model owners, providing ongoing support to keep the cars maintained and upgraded.
Owning a Senna gets you into an exclusive club, one that has the constant support of McLaren Automotive and the MSO.
The Standard Senna, if you can call a hypercar costing £750,000 standard, has racing in every component, hewn from state-of-the-art materials. It is born for the track. It offers a totally harmonious connection between driver and car.
Mclaren wanted to build their fastest ever track car and they have, the Senna will break every previous Mclaren car lap record. It just happens to be road-legal, too, so the owners can drive themselves to a circuit and, without any alterations, blast around, lap after lap.
Named after one of Mclaren’s finest racing drivers, Ayrton Senna, the car is designed to be the finest too. It will allow owners to drive the best they can possibly be. The company challenged the Impossible and conquered it. The result is the McLaren Senna.
Back to the Carbon theme, £300k gets you a Carbon Fibre detail weave. The owner can then highlight areas in their choice of colours. The one shown is yellow and green, taken from Ayrton Senna’s helmet design.
As the extra options take more time to organise and put in place, manufacturing will take longer and, therefore, cost more. Let’s face it, though: if you have purchased one already, I don’t think spending more money on enhancements will be an issue.
If you want to reduce weight, then purchase carbon fibre wheels, which are 10% lighter at 7.5kg, than the standard already lightweight forged rims.
