In partnership with Bicester-based Sky Wave Gin distillery, Blenheim Palace, has crafted three new gins, each with a unique story and distinctive taste.
Created to showcase the history and innovation of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the gins all feature ingredients nurtured and carefully handpicked from the gardens within the Estate.
The Blenheim Palace Signature Gin has been gently distilled using only the finest botanicals. It features lavender and rosemary picked from the Walled Gardens alongside the ‘Blenheim Orange’ apple from the orchards.
Described as ‘elegant and stylish’, this gin is crafted in a traditional copper still for smoothness and complexity, using the ‘one-shot’ method of which only the top 5% of gins in the world are made, so nothing is added after distillation except the Blenheim Palace Natural Mineral Water.
The Butler’s Gin is a sloe gin – but with a difference. The second in the partnership with Sky Wave Distillery, this gin has been designed to evoke images of the Palace Butler sipping a nightcap in his pantry after a satisfying day serving the Duke of Marlborough and his family. It captures the wonderful flavours of the sloe berries but without adding extra sugar to ensure the distinctive taste of the berries comes through.
The Head Gardener’s Gin is the third in the collection, created after careful consultation with Blenheim’s own Head Gardener. This gin reflects botanicals grown in the Palace gardens, honouring the year-round hard work of the team. Natural flavours of strawberries and summer fruits are immediately evident, and the juniper plays its part, too, making this a true gin and not an overly-sweet liqueur.
A truly unique gift or souvenir from a visit to Britain’s Greatest Palace, all three gins are available to purchase from the on-site Palace Shop and on the official website.
Top tip from Blenheim Palace and the multiple award-winning Sky Wave Gin distillery: These three gins are best enjoyed on a warm summer’s day with plenty of ice and tonic, soda water or lemonade.
