This summer, BluHouse will be bringing a taste of everyday life from the streets of Italy to the ground floor of Victoria Dockside. BluHouse will have its soft opening on June the 9th, and at its helm will be Italian chef Giovanni Galeota, who’ll lead both casual and elevated dining approaches focused on authentic Italian cooking.
With its iconic location at the Avenue of Stars, BluHouse (above) boasts panoramic views of the famed Victoria Harbour Hong Kong skyline and a sun-soaked dining room that serves as a stylish respite from the surrounding bustle of the city.
With Chef de Cuisine Giovanni Galeota (right) at its helm, BluHouse will have an ethos centred around the timeless Italian tradition of coming together with loved ones to enjoy good and honest cooking, whether for a laid-back Italian meal or a more elevated exploration of Italy’s gastronomic delights at The Dining Room by BluHouse.
Two Dining Approaches
Opening from the 9th of June will be BluHouse, which comprises a casual Italian eatery and a selection of dynamic and convivial food counters.
At BluHouse, a range of culinary encounters will carry guests across Italy and into the great cultural cooking traditions of its people – from the barista corner where rituals of coffee and aperitivo come to life and the rosticceria and pizza al taglio that nod to the country’s neighbourhood lunch spots, to enticingly sweet moments at the pasticceria and gelato counter.
Opening shortly after the launch of BluHouse on the 23rd of June will be The Dining Room by BluHouse, which presents a thoughtful balance between tradition and innovation in a refined ambience with social impact in mind. An elevated and environmentally conscious Italian restaurant, The Dining Room features an exclusive private dining room and an extensive wine cellar that showcases the viticultural diversity of Italy’s varietals and appellations for the perfect wine pairing experience.
Interior Design by Afroditi
London-based interior firm Afroditi designed the immersive Italian food and beverage experience at BluHouse to bring nostalgic memories of living La Dolce Vita to life. The space gives a sense of Italy’s charming simplicity, effortless elegance, exacting standards, and passion for sensationally high-quality food and drink.
The expansive main space of the multifaceted restaurant, bar, café, and deli features statement white marble and blue lava stone counters, all brimming with activity and a cornucopia of colourful, freshly prepared food. The layout of the space has been carefully designed to create buzzing energy throughout, while softly coloured textiles evoke the serene and timeless elegance of Milan and Rome.
Architectural interventions of glazed partitions and screens are seen across the restaurant, inspired by traditional Italian craftsmanship and millwork. Large wooden tables allow guests to come together in true Italian family style and to enjoy the visual and sensorial experience of shared food and wine. The signature mosaic floor and undulating ceiling further encapsulate traditional Mediterranean-style architecture, whilst distinctive art pieces have been curated as a bold, modern and vibrant accent to the otherwise warm and classic interiors.
Social Impact & Ethos
True to its Italian origins, BluHouse sees a genuine Italian culinary experience as a social experience that enables relationships and sharing across the community. Inspired by the concept of a “societa benefit”, a purpose-led business, BluHouse is committed to co-creating neighbourhood resilience by supporting underserved and overlooked communities in its Tsim Sha Tsui neighbourhood.
Its signature environmentally-friendly reusable BluCup will reduce waste while supporting donations to refugees and ethnic minorities served by NGO partners RUN Hong Kong and The Zubin Foundation.
BluHouse will also offer employment to members of these communities to close the opportunity gap. Waste management and recycling programs will help build a sustainable footprint for the restaurant, while impactful experiences that connect guests and talent to local communities will build shared prosperity.
