Following the extraordinary critical acclaim given to its new Pi8 True Wireless earbuds, Bowers & Wilkins is proud to introduce its second pair of category-defining True Wireless earbuds, the all-new Pi6.
Designed around the same highly acclaimed mechanical design as its Pi8 sibling, Pi6 features revised electronic and acoustic engineering, ensuring this is the most attainable True Wireless earbud Bowers & Wilkins has ever made.
Sound and Comfort
The Pi6 will set a new earbud benchmark at its more affordable price point thanks to its outstanding blend of comfort, features and performance. Indeed, the sound quality of Pi6 is superior to that of the outgoing Pi7 S2 – previously the flagship model in the outgoing range of Bowers & Wilkins earbuds.
Pi6 uses all-new 12mm drive units – larger than the 9.2mm drive units fitted to Pi7 S2 – utilizing the bio-cellulose cone material developed for the award-winning Px7 S2e over-ear headphones. An advanced Qualcomm chipset supports this to provide improved wireless stability and reliable connectivity, with aptX Adaptive wireless transmission at 24-bit/96kHz for exceptional high-resolution sound quality from compatible wireless sources.
All-new premium design
Utilising Qualcomm wireless transmission technology and state-of-the-art active noise cancellation, Pi6 includes all the key features and technologies demanded by today’s discerning consumer.
It has been carefully developed to feature elegant design flourishes, premium materials and a high-quality, durable feel, including IP54-rated protection for the earbuds. The overall form of the earbuds was inspired by an extensive Bowers & Wilkins research project into the variation in human ear form across both gender and ethnicity.
Bowers & Wilkins’ industrial design team used the results of this study to create an all-new design that delivers exceptional comfort and fit plus outstanding noise cancellation for the broadest possible range of listeners.
Pi6 also benefits from comprehensive improvements to set up and user experience. Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint pairing uses upgraded antennae and offers more straightforward connectivity from audio devices to the earbuds; for example, users can now quickly pair a second device to their Pi6s without having to remove the buds from their ears.
Made for iPhone (MFI) support ensures seamless integration with iOS devices and effortless onboarding into the Bowers & Wilkins Music app. Google Fast Pair (GFP) support will follow shortly after launch. The Music app also includes bass and treble tone-control adjustments.
These improvements to setup and usability are partnered with significant revisions to the user interface. The top of each earbud represents a sizeable capacitive touch surface with more advanced sensors that improve the responsiveness and reliability of touch-based interactions, such as volume adjustment.
The new industrial design also repositions all antennas and microphones within the earbud to avoid accidental blockage of wireless or audio signals, while a new IR proximity sensor provides more reliable and responsive wear sensing.
Pi6 also benefits from a comprehensive rethink of its accompanying charging case, which has been reshaped to make it slimmer and easier to slip into a pocket – and at the same time, look and feel more premium.
Call Quality and Noise Cancellation
Pi6 features carefully positioned microphones designed to reject unwanted external noises during voice calls. Pi6 is built around the same noise-rejection platform used in the outgoing Pi7 S2, teamed with new Qualcomm active noise cancellation designed to cancel as much unwanted noise as possible.
Pi6 also offers notably more battery life than its forebears, with up to 8 hours of earbud listening before charging is required; the charging case supports up to 16 hours of further use, giving 24 hours in total with ANC on. Pi6 can also be rapidly recharged, with just 15 minutes of charge providing enough energy for two more hours of use.
Four finishes to suit every taste
Pi6 is available in Bowers & Wilkins’s most extensive range of finishes: Storm Grey, Cloud Grey, Forest Green, and Glacier Blue.
The new Pi6, with its class-leading performance, is available from the Bowers & Wilkins website and selected retailers for £219 / $249 / €249.
