Stefano Andrean takes a closer look at the new Bulova CURV collection of watches
Since its inception back in 1875 the American watch brand has been at the forefront of innovation in the watch industry. Everything from the accolade of making the first ever electronic watch, the Accutron, to their long-standing partnership with NASA, and more recently the hugely accurate Precisionist movement.
Now Bulova once again ‘bends’ the rules with the world’s first curved chronograph movement, debuted at Baselworld this year.
The Bulova CURV collection of 12 watches of various designs and materials are a marvel of horological engineering, with elegant ergonomic-focussed designs and slim casings that have not been seen thus far in the watch industry.
Inside the CURV is the worlds-first curved chronograph movement. It is a high-performance quartz unit vibrating at 262kHz frequency for millisecond-precise accuracy.
On the outside of the watch, Bulova’s design for the CURV follows an aerodynamic theme with a refined, contoured shape that exactly follows the wrist.
The CURV collection offers a stylish series of both dress and sports styles, including the ‘touchstone’ style which features an exhibition caseback so you can see the movement below and a see-through dial with titanium and steel case and buckle, and black strap in rugged rubber.
A ubiquitous American icon and innovator, it can be said once again that Bulova has set a new height for pioneering in the horological industry.
