Within Kuala Lumpur is a place that has been nicknamed “The Lush Garden”, and it’s been created by Cartier. Ong Chin Huat becomes one of the first people to visit the renowned luxury brand’s new boutique at The Gardens Mall and is wowed by this beautiful Aladdin’s cave.
A treasure trove filled with watches, jewellery, leather goods, eyewear, fragrances and silk scarves, among other luxury items, can be found in the newest Cartier boutique in The Gardens Mall, located in the heart of the Klang Valley.
Occupying over 400 square metres of floor space on the ground floor of this swanky mall, the latest Cartier store incorporates European and local design elements in its design, the first store in Malaysia to do so. Nicknamed “The Lush Garden”, the boutique’s interior style was inspired by the verdant flora and fauna found in its host country.
With a burnished gold colour scheme indicating the precious items within, jewellery connoisseurs and lovers of Cartier will need little convincing to enter this beautiful Aladdin’s cave to explore its wonders. As the first boutique in Malaysia to feature Cartier’s latest store concept and interior design, The Lush Garden has fragrant blossoming flowers and ripe and luscious fruits ready for harvest, metaphorically speaking.
Dominating the Grand Foyer is a chandelier reminiscent of falling leaves, setting the entire boutique’s tone. Facing the entrance is another prominent feature – a stunning floor-to-ceiling mosaic wall made up of 20,000 pieces of hand-cut tiles.
Two majestic panthers, which is Cartier’s emblem, pose at the top of a staircase; this work of art took three artisans over five months to complete and was created using ancestral stone marquetry techniques of meticulous stone cutting and intricate inlaying.
To the left of the Grand Foyer is a wood-panelled section called the Masculine Universe, which exudes charm and displays everything that any man would covet. The High-End Jewellery Area has a semi-private alcove which offers privacy to those clients who wish to admire the haute joaillerie and keep a low profile. Embellished with leafy light fixtures, there is a VIP Lounge in a soothing colour scheme and comfy seating with the addition of local elements such as rattan furniture.
The Bridal Area is to the right of the Grand Foyer, where engagement and wedding rings sparkle from inside the glass display cabinets. Thoughtfully decorated with local inspiration, a beautiful mural featuring Malaysia’s national flower, the red Hibiscus, underpins this romantic section, while the Care Service Area located immediately to the right of the main entrance has a bar-like table with plush high chairs reminiscent of a nature retreat.
Throughout this luxurious destination, the continuous theme of nature is seamlessly represented, as seen in the motifs inspired by oil palm trees on the white pillars and the burnished gold metal dividers between sections.
“The Lush Garden is a true representation of the Maison’s dedication to embracing the local heritage in each city where it is anchored,” says Anne Yitzhakov, the Managing Director of Cartier Singapore and Malaysia. “The new boutique marries the richness of Cartier’s DNA with Malaysia’s unique flora and fauna. Every corner is exquisitely decorated with local touches to create a welcoming, cosy, exceptional client journey.”
The new Cartier Boutique is at The Gardens Mall, G-241 Ground Floor, Mid Valley City, Lingkaran Syed Putra, 59200 Kuala Lumpur. For further information, please visit www.cartier.com/en-my.
