Food is intrinsic to Tuscan heritage and Castello Del Nero is a true scholar of the art.
Culinary fans are in for a treat for located in the hotel you will find two outstanding eateries. The first, La Taverna, provides classic Tuscan fare which, as you might expect, is hearty, delicious and filling.
Dining there was a true delight, with dishes such as the Zucchini flan, tomato volute and basil and grilled steak, providing a mouth-watering delve into Tuscan cuisine.
Then there’s the small matter of La Torre, a Michelin-star restaurant presided over by Chef Di Pirro. La Torre provides refined, highly sophisticated haute-cuisine, deliciously imbued with a touch of Tuscany.
Drinking spumante selected from the Ferrari vineyard, of no relation to its automotive namesake, Di Pirro provided a seafood menu of exquisite delicacy. Among the many highlights were exquisite dishes of scampi with squid ink bread, roasted octopus and turbot with asparagus, red prawns from Santo Stefano in a delightful ginger sauce. Intricately designed delicacies courtesy of the pastry chef rounded off a truly excellent dining experience.
If you find the desire to venture off Castello Del Nero’s estate, Tuscany is rich with excursions. Whether you fancy exploring the architecture and art for which Florence is renowned, stargazing, trying your hand at pottery classes, designing luxury shoes, wine making, truffle hunting or grabbing a bird’s eye view of it all in a helicopter, there’s a lot to do during your stay.
Maybe you would rather just reconnect, whether in the spa or with a plate of delicious traditional Tuscan fare and a fine bottle of red. Either way, Castello Del Nero is a truly immaculate place to explore everything Tuscany has to offer.
