Define Luxury? It can be classified, but it means different things to different people. If you are a millionaire, a highly-priced watch may say luxury to them. In contrast, someone else might describe luxury as sitting by a swimming pool in the sun, with no other buildings around them.
The Castello di Vicarello hotel in the beautiful Tuscan countryside defines luxury to all.
Tuscany has long been the choice for people to escape to with many actually choosing to settle there. The Castello di Vicarello is now open to anyone wanting to escape months of lockdown, in a way which will still allow you to avoid crowds and everyday stresses.
Of course, this comes at a price, quite a hefty one. However, you do get a considerable amount for that money and either the whole hotel to yourself or part share. Allow me to explain.
Set within its own estate, the Castello di Vicarello is opening with a plan to allow guests to book it entirely or on a part share option. It means you have the personal feeling of staying at a Villa but receive the services of a luxury hotel.
Completely relax in the stunning Maremman countryside in seclusion yet have all your needs at hand. You have 40 hectares of land to explore so you and your guests can roam within your own isolation.
Nine suites allow you, family and close friends to holiday in pure comfort, away from anyone else apart from the discreet staff. Daily breakfast, beverages, restaurant service, a cocktail bar, housekeeping and varied range of activities are inclusive.
There are more than enough options to keep you occupied or you could relax and do nothing. Activities include a hike through the gorgeous land surrounding the hotel, or a massage at the outside Spa. You can learn about the award-winning wine produced on the estate or even learn how to cook in the famous kitchen of Castello di Vicarello with the estate owners mama.
The kitchen serves local delicacies or chefs prepare dishes from the barbecue in the al-fresco dining area. Dine under the stars or while watching the sunset from the rooftop terrace. Stretch out on a lounger by one of the two pools and unwind—the choice is yours.
The Castello di Vicarello was built in the 11th-century and today boasts modern touches such as surround sound in all communal and private areas, Wi-Fi throughout, air conditioning and heating. Despite these modern amenities, it still offers more than enough charm. This is evident while eating in dining rooms with exposed wood ceiling beams, the stone walls and cosy leather club chairs.
The accommodation is split between the main house with five bedrooms, then four in its garden. Two options are available as I mentioned, with either booking the whole hotel or splitting into part booking with two blocks of suites as the choices. Both blocks have their own infinity pools, and all suites have private bathrooms, some also have kitchenettes and terraces.
If you can’t get enough of the region, it’s a 90-minute drive or less to the city of Siena and several beaches on the Mediterranean shore.
The Castello di Vicarello sounds like paradise to me, so I have been checking flights to the region and car hire options. Just the tricky dilemma of who to take with me?
