‘The Village’ of the Westfield London Shopping Centre houses boutiques belonging to some of the world’s most luxurious brands such as Montblanc, Louis Vuitton and Prada. Nestled between Dior and Tiffany & Co is the stylish Searcys Champagne Bar, which provides shoppers with the chance to sample the finest champagnes in a small haven of comfort featuring oyster-coloured leather seating for around 30 people at a time.
The beverage menu is comprehensive, which you would naturally expect from this type of establishment. There is also something to suit most budgets and the list starts with a £9.25 glass of house champagne (Besserat de Bellefon) and culminates with a 1996 bottle of Krug Clos du Mesnil costing a more eye-watering £750.00, and all are served in tall and elegant flutes. There are a few champagne-based cocktails such as the traditional Bellini and Kir Royale for those wanting something a bit more creative, as well as a small offering of Rosé, red and white wine by the glass or bottle.
For a bar of this size, the food menu provides a good choice of dishes, but Searcys is definitely more of a place to have a snack rather than being a venue to satisfy a ravenous hunger. For Carnivores, there is a selection of cured meat from across Europe which ranges from France’s Rosette de Lyon saucisson (sausage) to Alessandro chorizo from Spain, whilst those in need of some fish can treat themselves to some Jersey rock oysters or a seafood platter, amongst other delicacies. In addition to the former, there are nibbles (namely olives, crisps and nuts), cheeses (including a platter), sandwiches and salads.
I tried the very fresh Greek salad which was dressed with virgin olive oil, vinegar and oregano, and was complemented with a generous side dish of fresh bread and French butter. My partner opted for the whole grain open smoked chicken sandwich decorated with rocket and sun blushed tomatoes, which arrived on a nicely carved wooden board. Both of them were well presented and ended with no leftovers as all of the ingredients used were simply divine. Furthermore, the service was excellent throughout thanks to the bar’s extremely attentive and well-mannered hosts.
If you are looking to take a break from your retail therapy in exclusive surroundings and to simply watch the world go by, then Searcys Champagne Bar is the place to be.
