This brings me onto the next major difference: there is no set price list. Because the team at The Chapel know, no two haircuts or colours are the same. Each price (and appointment) is bespoke to the client, though you’ll receive a quote on consultation so there are no surprises. This might make you feel a little uneasy but when you’ve got the undivided attention of your stylist for as long as you need them, as well as their award-winning expertise, it’s well worth that tiny bit extra.
Oh, and I must mention the décor. It’s dreamy. Cuts and blow-drys happen upstairs – a glamorous studio with generously-spaced stations so even if the salon’s full, you won’t notice. Each station has a chic white leather chair and floating ornate mirror fit for an A-lister. There’s also an area with a ring light for taking those all-important before and after photos, adding to the celebrity-feel.
Hair colour is applied downstairs. A tranquil dimly-lit room with plush sofas, bright walls and the kind of Hollywood mirrors you see in celebrity dressing rooms. The walls display head-turning art and there’s also a mural designed to help clients understand hair colour.
Daniel completely transformed my hair. He’s an amazing colourist, working with speed yet incredible precision. He kept me in-the-know every step of the way, explaining the reasons behind each treatment or product he applied.
Those having subtle colours are invited to sink into the royal blue sofas while their colour sets. With ambient music playing in the background, I felt seriously relaxed; a stark difference to my previous hair salon ordeals.
When it was time for the final reveal, for the first time, I was 100% satisfied with the results.
The Chapel claim to be ‘experts in all aspects of hair’. Well, let me tell you, they are. Finally, after five years in the capital, I’ve found hairdressers I can trust.
