According to new national research commissioned by Dr. Beckmann, more people want cleaning products under the Christmas tree this year than a PlayStation 5 or AirPods.
In what might surprise many, more than half (58%) of Brits have named cleaning products as the number one present they want to receive this year, beating out traditional gifts such as technology and clothing to the top spot.
Air fresheners, microfibre cloths and stain removers all make the list of most-coveted cleaning items this Christmas, according to Neat Freak Brits. That figure rises to an enormous 93% among millennials aged 18-24 in a trend thought to have been sparked by ‘clean-fluencers’ – social media stars who garner millions of followers by posting cleaning tips, tricks and hacks.
The study¹ from Dr. Beckmann found the business of the Christmas period contributes to this rising demand for cleaning products, with over two in five (42%) people saying their home is messier and disorganised amid the festivities.
Chloe Baker, a spokesperson for Dr. Beckmann, said, “While Christmas is one of the jolliest times of the year, many people struggle to keep their home clean and organised during the festive rush.
“Whether people have a mountain of decorations that have collected dust or want to give their home a deep clean before the guests arrive, getting on top of cleaning can be a mammoth task.
“At Dr. Beckmann, we understand this challenge, and we’re committed to providing effective and efficient cleaning solutions that ease the burden of holiday cleaning.”
