The Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire has gotten a spectacular new pool that is both safe and elegant courtesy of the craftspeople at Cranbourne Stone and Carl Vernon Swimming Pools.
The task facing Cranbourne Stone and Carl Vernon Swimming Pools was to create a new conservatory pool on the site of the old pool for the hotel. This was achieved by combining their extensive knowledge and using some of the most innovative products on the market. The result was a pool which did not sacrifice style for safety.
The pool is located on the grounds of the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire inside an 18th-century stable block, which also houses the luxurious Spa. The central feature of the building is a conservatory pool, which was last updated 16 years ago.
Cranbourne Stone, specialists in providing bespoke, high-quality stone products for swimming pool and landscape designs, were integral to ensuring the stone used within the project was both safe and elegant.
“The pool was in need of refurbishment,” said Donna Wells of Carl Vernon Swimming Pools, “Tiles had blown around the pool coping, and the hotel had to keep patching them up. The blown tiles not only created an outdated appearance but also posed a safety concern.”
The Four Seasons wanted to refurbish the popular pool to create a classic feel that radiated style and elegance while being consistent throughout the resort without compromising on guest safety.
Carl Vernon Swimming Pools was appointed to overhaul the pool and use the team’s magic to design and renovate a superior pool which both exuded style and had safety features at its heart.
“Cranbourne Stone understands the importance of design and therefore selected stylish, slip-resistant porcelain solutions. Just because you’re considering safety, it doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style!
“From our comprehensive portfolio of products, Four Seasons chose a cream stone effect porcelain tiles and black porcelain double-edged bespoke copings, which works wonderfully to bring out the splendour of the historic building.
Importantly their choice also addressed the challenge of finding stone which not only looks good but includes non-slip properties. Porcelain is excellent for high-traffic areas due to being less porous than other stones and requires low maintenance, which is an ideal choice for the Four Seasons Spa.”
The project was completed promptly within a three-month timeframe at the end of 2019. Cranbourne Stone utilised its bespoke service and specialist machinery to get over a number of hurdles during the build, including cutting coping stone to a specific radius to perfectly fit the curved pool edge.
Carl Vernon used their considerable skill to ensure complete accuracy during the renovation, which resulted in a seamless result.
Jo concluded: “Attention to detail is one of our extended middle names. We applied our water jetting to the step treads and assessed water depths in coping stones and pre-cut step sections for accuracy and safety management. The overall finish of the project was one of beauty and safety.
“Working together with Carl Vernon is always a pleasure. Combining his team’s excellent artistry and our expertise has ensured that this renovation has created a luxurious indoor pool that met the two main requirements requested by the Four Seasons: a look of classic luxury and absolute safety for its guests.”
