Creativity and style at Restaurant AOC
Housed in the swanky arched basement of a 17th-century mansion near the centre of the city is a restaurant that promises to arouse all of your senses.
Stimulating sights, smell, sound and taste, the 2 Michelin-starred restaurant serves traditional Nordic cuisine during each intimate 40-seat ‘sitting’. They call it a ‘sensory experience’.
The restaurant is filled with lashings of white, from the walls to the table cloths. Ambient lighting and high, arched ceilings create a welcoming and unobtrusive atmosphere. Not pretentious in the slightest.
Chef Søren Selin serves up everything that is wonderful from the land and the sea, working towards the ‘New Nordic Kitchen’. Even the wines are Danish and you can choose to pair your dinner with juices too.
Expect simple, fresh ingredients taken from the restaurant’s local surroundings – the coast, the valleys – all seasonally changing. It’s all about nature here and everything is cooked and dished up in a thought-provoking way.
It’s not a case of just digging in, though. Each dish is an experience; you stare in awe at its artistic appearance, you unwrap, tap and dig before the disturbed aroma wafts out. Then finally, you take a bite. A meal at Restaurant AOC could very well be the most interesting you’ve ever enjoyed.
