Cornwall Hideaways have partnered with Philleigh Way cookery school to provide guests with a proper Cornish experience – all the requisite techniques and know-how needed to make an authentic Cornish Pasty.
The Hideaways Holidays Group (made up of regional brands including Cornwall, Dorset, Cotswolds, Norfolk, Suffolk, Yorkshire and the Isle of Wight) offers guests the chance to immerse themselves more fully – and uniquely – in local life through their Rural Skills programme.
In the case of Dorset Hideaways, for example, that means the chance to experience fossil hunting. For Cotswolds Hideaways, there’s an opportunity to learn all about dry stone walling. And for Cornwall Hideaways, it’s Cornish pasty making – and more.
Cornwall Hideaways have teamed up with Philleigh Way cookery school in Truro to offer guests a stay-and-learn experience with a 10% discount on all the classes the school offers, from pizza making to Indian cookery and fermentation. But, well, when in Cornwall…
The Cornish Pasty classes take place on 23rd September, 26th October, 23rd November & 14th December and cost £55pp or £50 when booked alongside a stay with Cornwall Hideaways.
Participants will learn about the history of this humble classic – and how to crimp their own, cooked from a local family recipe. And if that’s not appealing enough, the two-and-a-half-hour class also includes a traditional Cornish Cream tea. The course can also be tailored for vegetarians.
“Cornwall is fantastic 12 months a year!! But honestly, Autumn/winter is incredible,” says Philliegh Way founder Rupert Cooper. “Wintery walks on the beach or blazing hot sun with a wintery chill. Plus, the seafood is the best this time of year…. nothing better than pasty, oysters and might of Doom. I urge you to experience Cornwall in the winter, and make sure you check out Philleigh Way if you do!”
