J Craft, the Swedish manufacturer of luxury day boats and tenders, has welcomed the world’s most expensive little black dress aboard in Monaco.
Hand made by British fashion designer, Debbie Wingham, the little black dress incorporates 55 black diamonds and is valued at $3.5 million.
There are 25 two-carat black diamonds adorning the peplum with a further 25 framing the shoulder lines. The centrepiece of the dress is the bustier in which five black diamonds nestle. Embellished with fine beading, delicate pointer and white diamonds set in gold, the dress also features fine gold chain mail. The culmination of six months of intricate hand detailing, the finished dress weighs a remarkable 13kg.
The dress, along with other pieces from Debbie’s Black Diamond Collection, was aboard for a photo shoot following a lavish launch party held by Carol Joy London at the Billionaire Club at the Fairmont hotel the previous evening.
Speaking from one of the boats, Debbie said, “I’m delighted to be showing the collection aboard the J Craft Torpedo. My aim is to make clothing that is both glamorous and wearable and I see these qualities in J Craft too insofar as they are supremely elegant but also comfortable and very easy to enjoy.”
J Craft CEO, Aleks Milakovic, said, “Debbie’s collection looked amazing on the boats with the sun glinting off of the diamonds as well as the water. There is an impressive amount of detailing in each and every piece and that’s something that we admire and appreciate at J Craft.”
The Monaco shoot with Debbie Wingham and Carol Joy London marked J Craft’s arrival back in its home market after the team had spent the first half of the year travelling extensively in the USA and Asia. From January to June, J Craft appeared at events in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Hong Kong, China and Singapore.
Aleks Milakovic said, “It has been an incredible start to the year and we have achieved a great deal during our travels, not least creating a strong presence for the brand throughout China and Hong Kong. We are now looking forward to a packed programme of events along the Riviera over the coming months, culminating in the Monaco Yacht Show in September.”
