Winning promotion for Cádiz CF was a momentous occasion and to mark the team’s achievement the Spanish Watchmaker Cuervo y Sobrinos has produced a unique celebratory timepiece. The Cádiz special edition will be given to every member of the football team’s squad and Management team, following their move into Division 1.
Cuervo y Sobrinos has collaborated with Gordillo Jewellers to create a unique collection of Vuelo watches bearing the Cádiz CF colours and detailing.
Before you start looking for prices for one of these beautiful timepieces, I will stop you as they are not on sale. The company has solely made the model as a gift to the players and management of the club. It’s a real shame as many supporters would love to own one, and I must say I would be happy to as well.
Vuelo is Spanish for flight, Cuervo y Sobrinos denote their Aviator watches under this name. The Cádiz is a Sports watch with features that are standard on such models. Large numbers with superb dial clarity combined with a fashionable Latin-style pilot strap. The timepiece is thoroughly modern, yet design reflects a vintage past.
A large 44mm steel case and a custom dial with the corporate colours of the football club is a distinguishing feature of the Càdiz. Each dial bears the emblem of the club at the 6 marker and the inscription, “Ascenso a Primera División” meaning (“Promotion to the first league”). The numbers and hands are light blue, in contrast with the dark blue of the dial. They are also coated in Super-LumiNova to give illumination in dark conditions.
A lovely touch is the Cuervo y Sobrinos emblem at the 12, in white, and the supply, of straps in the two official colours of the football team. Blue Alcantara suede with yellow backstitches, and an extra rubber strap that is yellow on the outside and blue on the inside.
The automatic mechanism has a 42-hour power reserve providing plenty of useable wear. The sealed case-back is engraved with the Cádiz CF logo, the recipient’s name and limited edition number. The Càdiz comes in a humidor customised for the occasion, the logo of Cádiz CF etched on the top. Inside the watch is presented in an individual brown leather travel case.
It is a desirable timepiece, but as I mentioned, it won’t be going on sale. I think the brand may reconsider when they gauge reaction to the launch of the Càdiz as I can see it being popular among team fans and watch lovers alike.
