We decided to take a couple of days of well-earned rest and recuperation at the Five Star Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa in Kuala Lumpur.
Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa is located within easy reach of the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur City Center, Sepang Race Circuit and KL International Airport, making it ideally placed to get away for some downtime.
Getting to Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa is very simple, as the resort is well-signposted upon reaching Cyberjaya. Whether it was just our imagination or the anticipation of going somewhere renowned for its tranquillity, we could feel ourselves starting to unwind as we moved further away from the noise and congestion.
Once you reach the Resort, one of the first things you notice is the greenery, the management had obviously spent a lot of time and money on the landscaping and water features to complete the overall feeling of relaxation.
Before we go further into our own experience at Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa, lets take some time to describe the Resort.
The grounds that Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa sits upon a huge 28.8 acres, the majority of this being beautifully manicured with large swathes of grass and an abundance of water features. We will have a look at the recreational facilities, including the amazing swimming pool, a little later.
The main areas within the resort are well-connected by covered walkways to protect you from any unforeseen downpours. One of the striking things that you start to notice after a short while is the attention to detail, whether it is the greenery or the general construction.
We are ‘Attention to detail people, and we need to be, as we like and expect the very best. In this department, Cyberview Lodge Resort and Spa does not disappoint.
A glance at the flowerbeds shows even rows of new and established shrubbery, the trees and bushes are all manicured to very high standards, and buildings are all clean and well maintained. We could be forgiven for thinking that the Resort had been newly renovated in our honour!
The water features are also of particular note, with cascading waterfalls, ponds stocked with fish and fountains all accompanied by the soothing sound of running water.
The buildings within the resort are of a modern contemporary design, with plenty of internal wood and high ceilings complimented by a multitude of lights.
The Cyberview Lodge Resort and Spa reception area is a work of architectural art with high wooden ceilings, an internal fountain/water feature and comfortable large sofas to stretch out upon. We did notice the display cabinet that seemed to be overstocked with awards from the Hotel industry, which is always a good indicator that you are somewhere that is of the highest quality.
All of the hotel staff we encountered were polite, helpful and seemed to be genuinely happy, which cannot be said of other Resorts we have visited. A memorable feature which highlights the efforts to please was the doormen that rushed to open the doors for us whenever we approached the entrance or exited the lobby, a very nice touch that left us feeling truly welcome.
As mentioned earlier, Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa is situated on 28.8 acres of land, meaning that at no time do you feel cramped or hemmed in.
There are Seventy-Four chalets, suites and bungalows, which range in size up to 68 square meters. Whatever accommodation you decide to stay in, you will find it well equipped with high-quality linens, and a personal computer hooked up to a decent-speed broadband connection, and there is also free wireless internet available throughout the resort.
The rooms all benefit from large four-poster beds, 7 feet in length, with excellent mattresses, which ensure a comfortable re-energising night’s sleep. Other features within our room included an LCD TV with a wide range of satellite channels, including CNN, Disney and the major movie channels.
Within the room, you will find the usual conveniences expected of a high-quality resort, including an electronic safe, mini-bar, hair-dryer, lotions and a well-appointed bathroom.
The chalets also benefit from having their own kitchenettes, a private balcony, a dedicated lounge area and a separate desk where the computer is located in the unlikely event you will feel like working.
The cream of the accommodation is the Bungalows, aptly referred to as ‘A home away from home’. There are two bungalows, each having spacious living and dining areas, two king bedrooms, and a grand master bedroom with a secondary guest bathroom decorated in a luxurious tropical style.
There are also two ‘special suites’; the first one we shall look at is the Honeymoon Suite, also known as Mawar (Rose). This suite consists of a separate living area with an entertainment centre, dining table, workstation with a computer, kitchenette, a beautiful four-poster bed, and, to complete the romantic ambience, a garden view Jacuzzi tub.
The other ‘special’ suite is the Presidential Suite, known as the Bunga Raya (Hibiscus) Suite. This suite is exceptionally well named with 1560sq feet of luxury. The accommodation comprises majestic dining and living areas furnished with the highest quality furniture, Kitchenette, Grand Master Bedroom incorporating its own separate living area, a further separate office and a stunning Master Bathroom with a garden view Jacuzzi. There is also an optional twin-bedded second bedroom connecting to the main suite, which is available upon request.
Dining at Cyberview Lodge Resort and Spa
Another attraction of Cyberview Lodge Resort and Spa is the excellent dining and refreshment facilities. These consisted of the Bistro Cascata restaurant, the Verandah Restaurant, where we had our buffet breakfasts and dinner, Xing Zhu Chinese Restaurant, the Tree Haus with its Karaoke room, the Atap Lounge and the Karma Bar/Lounge.
We’ll start with the Verandah Restaurant, as this was the first place that we ate during our stay. As you can see from the photograph on the left, the Verandah is a huge dining area, bisected with beautiful ornate columns with a buffet and kitchen section on the far side that extends the full width of the restaurant.
After a friendly greeting, you are directed to a table of your choice and asked what beverage you would prefer; the dinner buffet was superb and, more importantly, very comprehensive. It reminded us of our last visit to Las Vegas, where there was so much choice that any attempt to try everything would leave one too full to do anything else.
The range of food consisted of various freshly cooked traditional dishes, a wide range of contemporary and western food, including cold meats and cheeses and a fish selection including local produce and smoked salmon.
There was also a separate section dedicated to Japanese cuisine, including the obvious staple Sushi selection along with such delicacies as Seaweed, which was a pleasant surprise, pickled vegetables and more.
The chefs were very eager to please the guests, and such requests as freshly made roti bread filled with Bananas were greeted with the customary ‘No problem, we will bring it to you once it has been cooked’. It wasn’t just the chefs that were eager to please; the waiting staff were also highly attentive and were fast, polite and efficient.
After literally stuffing ourselves with foods from around the globe, it then dawned on us that the huge array of sweets and desserts was waiting to be sampled. These consisted of a multitude of pastries, ornately decorated cake desserts, ice creams, traditional iced desserts and many more. The food was all cooked and presented to a high standard prompting us to remark that it was one of the best buffets that we have had the pleasure of eating.
We also ate at the Verandah Restaurant for the buffet breakfast, which was included in our package. Again we were not disappointed, as with the dinner there was a wide range of foods on offer.
These included a selection of cooked breakfasts, both Local and Western, a huge range of bread and pastries, Yogurts, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juices and a selection of cereals.
I distinctly remember one particular moment. I had just sat down thinking to myself ‘I’d love a cup of coffee’ and just at that moment a member of the waiting staff came over and said to me ‘Would you like a coffee, Sir?’ unbelievable, but true!
The pool within the Cyberview Lodge Resort and Spa is truly a sight to behold (see left). This huge pool is complimented by a cascading waterfall and is fed by a further waterfall that travels down from the Lobby end of the resort. Surrounding the pool are various sections to relax with sun loungers, tables and chairs and rope hammocks strategically placed within the landscaped grounds.
There is also a dedicated children’s pool, so no guests get to miss out on the great facilities. Other things available for those that find relaxation not invigorating enough include tennis on the hard court and mountain biking. You can even try a spot of fishing in the lake, just ask at the lobby, and they will arrange rods and bait for you!
We found just walking around the extensively landscaped grounds and gardens enough exercise to meet our needs. Coupled with studying the wide variety of flora and fauna, listening to the sound of running water and watching people having a relaxing time, in truth, we were so relaxed we had no inclination to go and do anything more than that.
Summary of Cyber Lodge Resort and Spa
Cyberview Lodge Resort and Spa does exactly what it sets out to do, helping you unwind and relax while providing enough activities to cater for those that wish to do a little more than that. The Resort is very well maintained, the staff attentive, and the landscaped grounds superb.
The variety of food available was extensive and met with our complete approval. There is even a shop so you can get small items to make your stay here even more enjoyable.
Considering its close proximity to KL City centre, it came as no surprise to hear that 60% of the guests come from the city to unwind. For those looking to find some relaxation time away from the hustle and bustle, it’s perfect, it is also ideally located for motorsport enthusiasts with Sepang Circuit within easy reach, and those looking for a break in between travelling as KLIA is also easily reached from here.
