Thought-provoking design studio Duffy London unveils the newest addition to its sculptural furniture collection – the Megalith Coffee Table.
Challenging everyday perceptions through bespoke, cutting-edge design and sculpture, the Megalith Coffee Table is a limited-edition piece, with Founder Christopher Duffy and his team at Duffy London producing only 50 in total.
With its glass tabletop balancing across six toppling monoliths, Christopher was inspired by Arthur C. Clarke’s novel ‘The Sentinel’ that was made into the cult film, ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, directed by Stanley Kubrick. The monolithic design seems to defy the laws of physics and achieves a playful illusion as it appears to be frozen in a permanent state of impending collapse.
Since launching the popular Megalith collection, Christopher and his highly specialist team have constantly been iterating the mechanics of the design from the original stainless-steel finish and exploring a variety of luxurious, albeit more technically challenging, new finishes.
Customers seeking modern luxury furniture with an artistic edge can now choose between a powder-coated base section of monoliths in either a single colour or multiple colours. Also available is brushed and mirror-polished stainless steel variants including mirror-polished gold, rose gold or bright metallic colours including blue and red, and a beautiful white-veined ‘Marquina’ black marble or white ‘Calacatta’ black vein marble.

The Megalith Coffee Table joins other pieces in the collection, including the Megalith Table, Round Table Edition, Monolith Console Table and Magic Mirror Table. Every piece within Duffy London’s collections is bespoke and handmade to order with precision by skilled artisans and craftspeople in the London workshop. Each of the incredible formations is made using sustainable practices and eco-friendly materials where possible.
