The luxury safari operator Elewana has completed a refurbishment of the spa and pool at the Arusha Coffee Lodge in Tanzania and introduced a new coffee treatment using beans from the surrounding plantation.
The Peaberries Spa is located in the gardens of the Arusha Coffee Lodge, next to the pool, surrounded by the natural elements of the coffee plantation. The new speciality coffee treatment and therapies are all tailored to suit the individual requirements of each guest.
The new Coffee Scrub and Body Wrap treatment commences with body brushing to boost circulation, sweep away dead skin cells, stimulate the lymph nodes, improve the appearance of cellulite, and help the cells and body cleanse and remove waste. Coffee beans from the plantation are then ground into an aromatic body scrub with orange and cinnamon, which works as a natural exfoliant. The caffeine helps re-energise the skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite, while the oil keeps the skin moisturised. The antioxidant properties of the coffee also help rejuvenate the skin.
Once the coffee has been rinsed away, the treatment is completed with a Swedish style massage to work on the soft tissue, ease day-to-day stress and muscular tension and promote relaxation. Finally, Healing Earth cream is applied to harness the smoothing and invigorating powers of the coffee, cinnamon and orange. The 90-minute speciality coffee treatment is US$150 per person.
The Peaberries Spa has had a cosmetic upgrade with bright green and earthy colours reflecting the natural surrounding habitat. The pool has also been upgraded with new lighting creating a peaceful oasis in which to relax.
Other treatments at the Peaberries Spa include a variety of facials, with speciality treatments for teenagers, de-aging and skin repair plus anti-free radical treatment. Massage, reflexology, body wraps, exfoliation and balancing treatments are also available, as are spa offerings such as waxing, manicure and pedicure.
