British auction house Elmwoods raises £15,000 for the National Emergencies Trust in a special charity jewellery auction in West London.
A Red Cross (depicted below) is known as a symbol of help and support around the world. The cross was one of the main highlights of a special online jewellery charity auction held by Elmwood’s Auctioneers in West London on Thursday, April 23rd, 2020.
The auction raised the fantastic sum of £15,000 for the National Emergencies Trust, a charity that is helping local communities affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.
The auction, which contained a variety of beautiful, yet affordable jewellery, was a great success with all proceeds given to the charity. The stunning antique Georgian garnet pendant (pictured below), which was a symbolic addition to the sale, due to significance of the red cross around the world, sold above its estimate for £572.
Elmwood’s auctioneer’s Director, Samuel Hill, said of the result: “It was amazing to see so many people pulling together at this difficult time. We had 1,500 buyers registered to bid from 66 different countries, across six continents! The online nature of our business enabled us to reach a broad audience, which facilitated a great result for a very worthy cause.”
A snake bangle in 18-carat yellow gold, designed as a snake coiled around itself and set with round-cut red stone eyes realised £975 against a pre-sale estimate low estimate of £400.
A striking aquamarine and sapphire dress ring (pictured below) in 18ct yellow gold, set with an oval cut aquamarine between two pear-cut sapphires also sold above its estimate at £390.

All eight pieces in the sale sold for a collective total of £3,341, against a pre-sale low estimate of £1,900.
