Feeling stressed from work pressures? Need a break from your ho-hum daily routine? Ong Chin Huat spends a few days at Escape Ritual in Bali and leaves feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and totally recharged.
The breakneck speed which most people live their lives is a result of the hyper-connectivity prevalent in the internet age. Add to this the increasing work pressures resulting from an economy which accelerates or decelerates at the whim of a tweet and you get a stressed-out workforce in need of some downtime to relax and recharge.
Enter Escape Ritual, a luxury wellness retreat located on the paradisiacal island of Bali which was specifically conceived to counteract the pitfalls of modern living.
Situated among the lush greenery and verdant rice fields of the low-key town of Mengwi, just ten minutes from the uber-trendy district of Canggu. This modernist-inspired home has seven bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms and an open, airy aesthetic making it the perfect getaway from a cramped and chaotic city existence.
Founder and owner of Escape Ritual Sherina Binwani was prompted to start this wellness retreat in May this year after her own life spun out of control. “The realisation for self-care came about when I hit a wall,” says Sherina. “I was totally burnt out from work and needed to take time off for myself with no agenda.”
A mother of two teenage children who comes from a prominent business family in Jakarta, Sherina is married to Vijay Binwani, who’s background is in garment retailing in Malaysia. As an entrepreneur and businesswoman involved in a multitude of businesses, Sherina has first-hand experience of burning the candles at both ends.
“My lifelong journey with holistic self-care and wellness came to a head when I visited Bali last year….my years of being an entrepreneur, wife and mother gave me immense joy but left me with little time to unwind and to engage with myself on a spiritual level.”
A period of deep soul searching yielded more questions than answers for Sherina – why do we forget ourselves while caring for others? Can self-care be in the form of experiences instead of indulging in material goods?
The answers she sought can be found in the holistic, fitness and spiritual experiences in Escape Ritual packages which she personally created.
