The new Excalibur Monobalancier Titanium from Roger Dubuis is an extraordinary-looking skeletonised timepiece. In this feature, Jeremy Webb takes a close look at the latest piece of Hyperhorology from the renowned watch company and, importantly, what makes it tick.
Roger Dubuis has launched a beautiful model made from the highly desirable and lightweight metal, Titanium. The 42mm large case is entirely crafted from the material and encases the skeletonised dial and Titanium strap. As with all Roger Dubuis watches, it has the Poinçon de Genève certificate despite the challenges of working with the metal. You hardly notice it on your wrist.
Roger Dubuis’ skeleton calibres are the essence of the expressive uniqueness of the Excalibur collection. Each watch in the collection is a work of art, with every component finished by hand; they are symbols of passion. Skilled craftsmen behind each watch focus on the creative mechanics making these pieces more alive than ever.
In developing the Excalibur collection, Roger Dubuis has opted to implement a calibre with improved performance, which has resulted in an increased power reserve of up to 72 hours. The durability of the timepiece has also been enhanced thanks to new lube and increased precision due to 4hz frequency. A new geartrain toothing and escapement optimisation through its geometry are also features.
The watch movement is an RD720SQ automatic self-winding with a Monobalancier complication. These are proven components that are reliable, efficient and smooth.
Underneath the Sapphire Crystal, the dial is a grey double surface flange with transferred texts and minute track, with polished and grey hour markers.
The Excalibur Monobalancier Titanium has a bracelet, which is made with shortened links coupled with a Quick Release System, ensuring an ideal fit for all wearers.
The timepiece is a sophisticated modern masterpiece adorned with a premium matte sheen. It is the perfect balance of performance and aesthetics for those who live life to the fullest and require a watch that can handle any knocks.
The Excalibur Monobalancier Titanium is priced at $66,500 ex VAT. To find out more about Excalibur Monobalancier Titanium or any of their brand’s timepieces, please visit https://www.rogerdubuis.com.
