Expedition Strength, Aviation American Gin's New Global Travel Retail Exclusive

Aviation American Gin is a premium brand of gin launched in 2006, and originates from the city of Portland in the US state of Oregon. Part of the Diageo portfolio, Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, who has found added fame for acquiring the Wrexham Football Club, also took a stake in this gin venture to become a co-owner, hence he is the face of the marketing campaign for the launch of the new Expedition Strength.

Available exclusively in travel retail outlets, such as airports, at a cost of around €50 (around £42), Aviation American Gin Expedition Strength (46.5% ABV) is designed to capture the eyes of the duty-free traveller, and certainly has presence thanks to its one-litre offering and impressive stature, which carries gravitas and weight.

It’s a smart bottle that we have held first-hand, and has an Art Deco groove-like design on the rear, synonymous with the suave metal casing that you would find on luxury carry-on luggage.

Its target audience is geared towards the adventurous type, and Expedition Strength has been designed to replicate the same signature taste and flavour that Aviation American Gin is renowned for, but with an added kick to prepare gin lovers for the journey ahead.

When sampling this gin, botanicals come to the fore, where an enticing aroma of sarsaparilla, floral sweetness, and citrus zest, is complemented by a palate featuring citrus and spice notes.

The finish offers a subtle hint of juniper, and each sip is said to be a journey through time, paying homage to the diverse origins of its ingredients, a narrative reflecting the vibrant tapestry of America’s rich heritage. Aviation American Gin Expedition Strength can be enjoyed neat or as the key ingredient in a variety of mixed drinks, including a traditional G&T.

Aviation American Gin co-owner Ryan Reynolds explains that no consumer is harder to reach than the duty-free traveller. He said that Aviation Gin Expedition Strength has been tailored to today’s weary traveller, and that it’s the liquid equivalent of a neck pillow that consumers often buy hastily before taking a flight.

To mark the launch of Expedition Strength, Aviation American Gin is hosting a special promotion at Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 in Spain throughout October, offering travellers that pass through the duty-free area the chance to sample two signature cocktails: the Negroni Upgrade and Bee’s Knees.

With the backing of a Hollywood celebrity, and a presence at some of the major airport hubs, we think Aviation American Gin Expedition Strength will certainly fly off the shelves!
