The Lanesborough and Debrett’s Guide To Social Etiquette
These two tradition-steeped institutions are offering bespoke courses entitled ‘The British Way’, an expert guide to the intricacies of traditional British social occasions, covering etiquette, dress codes and dining.
Hosted by a Debrett’s expert in the grand surrounds of The Lanesborough, a full-day guide to ‘The Season’, with an overnight stay at the hotel, is available for those looking for the ultimate etiquette lesson and a taste of timeless tradition. A Guide to Social Etiquette & The Season is a full-day course with a Debrett’s expert and overnight at The Lanesborough.
This full-day tutorial with an overnight stay at the hotel explores the British approach to dining, etiquette, hosting and seasonal dress codes. During a private lesson with an expert Debrett’s tutor, fathers and sons will learn about the minutiae of British behaviour and social traditions. Topics include greetings, conversations and ‘small talk’, as well as dining etiquette and how to be the perfect host. They’ll also learn about first impressions and personal impact – including everything from formal greetings and forms of address to conversations and body language.
Over lunch at The Lanesborough’s elegant Michelin-starred restaurant Céleste, with cuisine by Chef Patron Eric Frechon – the chef of three Michelin-starred Epicure at Le Bristol in Paris, and executed by Executive Chef Florian Favario – guests will be taught everything they need to know about formal dining etiquette. The course concludes with a tutorial dedicated to The Season and British dress codes, covering the confusing conventions of British seasonal dress codes and teaching what to wear, and when and how to wear it.
A Guide To Social Etiquette & The Season includes lunch at Céleste, a private six-hour Debrett’s course (10:00 – 16:00), and an overnight stay in a room at The Lanesborough and costs from £1,875 per person. www.lanesborough.com
