Dormy House

The low-down
Be prepared to be spoilt rotten by the staff at Dormy House, nestled away in the north-west corner of the Cotswolds. This stylish hideaway has 38 rooms with designer interiors, plenty of tech, and a state-of-the-art spa.

What makes it special?
The outstanding spa, with its expert therapists, cutting-edge treatments and Scandi influences. The five-star facilities include a lavender sauna, salt-infused steam room and candlelit infinity pool which couldn’t be dreamier.

Ideas for ‘us’ time
Did we mention the spa? It’s one of the best in the country and has been winning awards since it opened. For her, the Temple Spa facials with scientifically-blended botanicals have been said to have similar results as Botox. Ingredients include champagne, diamonds, and platinum. For him, the massages are the talk of the town, delivered by therapists who have been trained under massage pioneer Beata Aleksandrowicz. If you just can’t bear to be apart from one another, the private couples’ suite caters for two and you can enjoy a hot mineral mud bath. After your treatments, relax on the terrace together, glass of bubbly in hand or take a dip in the steamy, open-air pool. Unsurprisingly, the spa is very popular so we advise booking your treatments in advance.

The living room at Dormy House

After you’ve caught up on some serious R&R, it’s time for a stroll (slow pace, of course). Dormy House offers a selection of hampers (think a luxury packed lunch) for your rambles. Upgrade to a Fizzy Hamper for smoked meats, flaky sausage rolls, freshly baked cakes and a chilled bottle of champagne.

The dinner for two
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to dining at Dormy House. We recommend the opulent Garden Room. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of light and treat you to a view of the glorious gardens while you dine. If it’s warm enough (fingers crossed for sunshine this year), the terrace will be opened to let in the fresh, flower-scented air. Expect exciting flavour combinations with every dish, which incorporate the finest ingredients from nearby. That means locally grown veggies, foraged herbs and meat from cattle that’s probably been hand-reared close by. Opt for à la carte dining or a 7-course tasting menu for something exceptional.

Anything else?
Lovers should look to book the Rose Cottage for their stay, with its own hot tub and fabulous floral theme. Like the other rooms, it features an eye-catching interior design with bespoke furniture to boot. A noteworthy feature is the tablets in the rooms, where you can request a number of services in a tap, like fresh milk and breakfast in bed.
