Philips Zoom Teeth Whitening at Smilepod
I think we’d all agree, a sparkling smile can help boost confidence and youthfulness. There are countless whitening kits and pastes available, all claiming to whiten your teeth by ‘X’ many shades. Having spent a small fortune on these kits, I can tell you that very few actually work and those that do, don’t tend to offer lasting results.
Finally, though, I’ve found a worthy solution. (And it’s one that your dentist would approve of.) The Philips Zoom at-home whitening kit doesn’t just brighten your smile, it improves enamel, giving you smoother, shinier teeth. So off I went to private London dentist, Smilepod, to pick up my dentist-prescribed whitening kit.
What is it?
A whitening treatment using bespoke trays which you fill with gel. The lightweight trays fit perfectly over your teeth so you’ll hardly notice them. You can wear them during the day or at night, whichever suits your lifestyle. I wore them for six hours overnight and had no issues.
Who is it for?
Teeth whitening isn’t for everyone so be sure to consult with a dentist before starting any sort of treatment. Generally, it can help anyone looking to banish stains caused by aging, food and drink.
Why do celebs love this treatment?
White teeth are synonymous with youthfulness. It gives the face a brighter appearance so for anyone in the public eye, pearly whites are essential.
Where did it originate from?
It was first offered in America.
How long does it take?
Between one to two weeks, depending on how white you want to go and how sensitive your teeth are. The kit lasts for up to one year so you can use it for top-ups whenever you feel the need. During your treatment, be sure to avoid dark-coloured food and drink for the best results. (I drank coffee through a straw.)
What does it feel like?
It’s virtually pain-free but during the treatment, your teeth may feel a bit more sensitive. It wears off once you finish the course.
What results can you expect?
Results vary, of course. During my treatment, I noticed results from day one. From then on my teeth got whiter and whiter, and developed a gleam too. Coffee stains are now a thing of the past.
How much does it cost?
From £299.
Is any maintenance required?
To keep your teeth white, you’re advised to give up coffee, red wine and fizzy drinks (or drink them through a straw). You should also book regular hygiene appointments.
