Bentayga Speed Interior
This luxury SUV not only looks impressive on the outside, but boasts exquisite craftsmanship inside the cabin – much of it hand-made as I witnessed on our Bentley factory tour. The attention to detail, the quality of the Alcantara leather trim (a first in the Bentayga), carbon fibre inserts and finish, and the contrast stitching and diamond quilting giving the Bentayga Speed a sophisticated colour-split design theme. I love the embroidered ‘Speed’ on the headrests and the illuminated ‘Speed’ treadplate… Just in case you forget you’re driving the world’s fastest SUV.
Add the extensive bespoke Mulliner specifications and you’ll have a custom-made Bentayga Speed that won’t look like any other owner’s. Among the options are 22-way adjustable front seats with massage function, carbon fibre fascia panels, rear-seat entertainment and even mood lighting. Plus optional carbon ceramic brakes – engineered to take heat up to 1,000C.
Bentayga Speed Track Performance
So how does the Bentayga Speed perform on the track? This is my first time at Anglesey and I thoroughly enjoy the beautiful circuit with dramatic Irish Sea views from its straights and inclines. The all-wheel-drive Speed takes the corners with ease, boasting incredible traction and road holding more usually found on a racing car. I’m speechless. With 8 drive modes to choose from you can be in sedan-like comfort one minute, then up the revs in Sport mode the next. Here, the gnarly exhaust and firmer suspension make my laps around the circuit very exciting indeed. Especially when driven at over 100mph by a professional driver. I didn’t get to test the Speed on the roads this time, but from previous Bentayga drives I know just how well it performs on motorways and around town, and is effortless to drive and park. The Speed is a welcome and very exciting addition to the sophisticated Bentayga stable.
All-new Bentley Flying Spur 6.0-litre W12
Now’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the reveal of the all-new third generation Bentley Flying Spur. I’m back at Bentley’s Crew HQ, admiring a stunning vintage Flying Spur alongside my favourite Bentley Speed Continental. Suddenly there’s a hushed silence and the covers are off what looks to be a complete 2019 redesign for the iconic Bentley Flying Spur. Bentley was right when they assured us their new Flying Spur iteration would be: “a quantum leap in technology, performance and innovation”.
At first glance, Bentley’s premium four-door luxury Grand Tourer looks sleeker, slightly longer and more sporty with a dynamic, agile line. Chrome sleeves around sparkly LED cut-crystal effect headlights, with new 22-inch wheels create a sportier yet refined look. The gloss black radiator is impressive giving a more rugged appeal, framed in a chrome surround.
