Humans have been living together since, well, the beginning. So communal living is nothing new. But over the last few decades, humans have drifted away from this way of life for various reasons. But co-living, a trending housing model, is making big waves, thanks to efforts from companies like Folk, allowing individuals to form better relationships with others through forging intentional communities with those who live among them.
It’s understandable, then, that Co-living spaces are cropping up everywhere in urban areas to address some of the issues renters face. They offer greater flexible sharing options for those looking for a new home. Folk, the co-living brand, say they are opening its third site in the capital to meet demand following an outstanding uptake at its Harrow and Earlsfield sites.
Following its recent completion, Florence Dock in Battersea will welcome renters to move in June, and the interest has been overwhelming, with more than 2000 people already on the waiting list.
As its name would indicate, Florence Dock is located riverside in SW11, and the property is a mere 10-minute walk from both Clapham Junctions and Wandsworth Town stations, making it a desirable place for commuters.
The building features multiple roof terraces (main image) with views of London, a huge co-working space, high-spec community kitchens, a gym, a cinema room, a gaming room, a lounge and an on-site bar for residents to enjoy.
Florence Dock in Battersea is the third in Folk’s co-living portfolio in the capital and has been designed around the brand’s key pillars of community and connection, encouraging social interaction and the formation of new friendships and relationships.
As you can see from the images, the property has been designed to impress. It has 270 beautifully designed private studios and thoughtfully designed shared spaces for residents to come together, cook, enjoy social events, work out and relax.
The company says it’s striking the perfect balance between the comfort of a private studio with the joy of sharing the good times in communal spaces.
After conducting research with renters to understand the problems they face in today’s housing climate, Folk said it wanted to address some of their big pain-point concerns. These include run-down accommodation, lack of outdoor or working-from-home space, and rising bills.
Particularly attractive for London renters is the value the spaces provide – the £1,695 per calendar month Studio price includes all bills. In addition, the cost covers access to all events and communal areas such as the gym, cinema and co-working space, thus removing the worry of rising costs which many are facing in recent months.
Paul Naylor, FOLK General Manager, says, “The launch of Florence Dock in Battersea is an exciting next step in Folk’s journey as we continue to offer hassle-free co-living in London. As our brand has grown rapidly over the past year, we’ve been able to hone our offering, take all the best bits of co-living and combine them with state-of-the-art design and innovative technology to launch Florence Dock.
We’ve balanced the indoor and outdoor spaces perfectly by working with architects and positioning the building riverside, and we are excited for our first residents to sign up and move in.”
