Gucci hosted a private cocktail party recently to inaugurate the new boutique at The Gardens Mall with a six-day Artisan Corner, an exclusive event that brought the craftsmanship of Gucci’s Florentine leather goods factory directly to its clientele in Malaysia.
Over 90 privileged guests were in attendance at the event, including Gucci customers and social personalities
About the Artisan Corner
The Gucci artisans will focus on assembling the House’s signature New Bamboo, Bamboo Shopper, and Hip Bamboo bags. The hand-crafted products will be available in exotic skins and exclusive colors and can be personalized with hand-embossed monogramming. The Artisan Corner display will include custom work tables, a sewing machine, a leather stand, and metal tools, as well as additional background materials which illustrate the evolution of the products, from mood board to sketches. For the occasion, a highly skilled artisan will also demonstrate the various stages of bamboo processing, from the selection of the raw material to the final stages of workmanship.
The original Gucci Bamboo bag was created in 1947 and was reintroduced in 2010 with the New Bamboo bag. This design is comprised of 130 separate pieces and is crafted the same way as the original, requiring up to two days of work to ensure its perfect details. Also featuring the House’s signature curved cane handle, the Bamboo Shopper introduces an original take on this beloved Gucci icon and requires expert manual work at Gucci’s Florentine headquarters. A novelty this season, the Hip Bamboo style incorporates bamboo into a distinctive frog closure with scoubidou piping ¬– the result is an ultra-modern bag.
For this special event, selected hand-crafted products were available in exotic skins and exclusive colours, and personalized with hand-embossed monogramming. These limited handbags featured a special interior tag stating “MALAYSIA AC 2014” to commemorate the occasion.
