This Summer Havana Club is launching a series of traditional Cuban Sombremesa style dinners to celebrate its new Iconica Collection, a selection of distinctively aged sipping rums.
Sobremesa is the relaxed, after-dinner socialising that is common throughout Cuba, and represents two luxuries that we as a society frequently neglect; time and good conversation. The dinners will bring together creative leaders to explore Cuban cultural trends including boxing, literature, art, music and gastronomy; creating an environment where food is enjoyed rather than eaten on the move and where rum is not drunk, but savoured.
On Wednesday 23 August, Havana Club will be opening the Sobremesa up to the public for the first time. Award-winning writer and editor Paul Croughton will host the evening at the Clerkenwell Cooperage, an ultra exclusive private residence located on the site of a former distillery.
Guests will be treated to a traditional Cuban menu created by acclaimed chef and TV presenter Marcus Bean, complimented with serves from the Havana Club Iconica Collection. True to Cuban spirit, tickets for the dinner are available on a complimentary first come first served basis, to register you’ll need to email sobremesa@pernod-ricard.com.
The Iconica Collection includes four exceptional extra-aged rums, Havana Club Seleccion de Maestros, Havana Club Anejo 15 Anos, Havana Club Union and Havana Club Maximo Extra Anejo; all a delicate and unique expression of the art of rum making. The rum variants have been born out of the expertise of the Maestros Roneros, master rum-makers who have spent at least fifteen years training to learn the complex art of rum making.
The process of distilling, ageing and blending rums is passed down through the generations ensuring that only the finest rum reserves are aged and blended in Havana Club’s legendary cellars.
