An interior fit for royalty
The interior of Project Cosmos has been skilfully crafted by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, which has previously collaborated with Heesen when furnishing Azamanta and Galactica Super Nova. Located around an hour away from Oss, the 50-strong, 2,000 square-metre studio had a relatively open brief from the owner, but it needed to be able to accommodate their art collection and to have a blue theme infused into the décor.

According to Sinot, one of the most important factors when styling the inside of a superyacht is that it is a moving and “living” object, and is not stationary like a building. The crew is working throughout the boat, both day and night, and they are tasked with providing the highest level of service to guests. The routes used by the crew when moving around, equally needs to be taken into consideration when determining the final layout. When it goes out to sea, there will be 17 staff aboard Cosmos, similar to Galactica Super Nova, but it’s interesting to note that the extra 10 metres of length doesn’t necessarily result in a proportional increase in staffing as you would maybe assume.

From the renderings and the selection of materials that were on display at the keel laying ceremony, the interior of Project Cosmos will combine different wood finishes, leather, natural stone and glass to create, in design speak, a “silky soft and gentle” environment.

It will also house a wooden spiral staircase that will wrap around the crystal elevator in a Galactica Super Nova-esque style. In terms of the living and sleeping accommodation, there will be six staterooms and cabins for 12 guests, including a master suite on the main deck of the yacht.

The final crucial stages
A few days before the scheduled delivery, the yacht will be launched into the water, where finishing work and speed trials will be undertaken, and a report with the GPS measurements will then be made available to Heesen and the owner for signature, so as to ensure that both parties are satisfied with the performance of the yacht. The actual handover will take place around 12 miles into international waters, but the Heesen team will remain on board for the duration of the maiden voyage as they effectively know the yacht better than the crew who are at the helm of the vessel for the first time. They will then disembark at a location such as Gibraltar, leaving the new owner to enjoy their new acquisition for many years to come.
