Continuing its ambitious international expansion, online campervan rental platform Indie Campers is set to open two new centres in the popular Nordic region of Europe by offering pick-up points in Helsinki, Finland, and Oslo, Norway, from 1st June 2022.
Following a significant increase in interest in Scandinavian routes, the road trip experts Indie Campers have responded by adding two new Nordic locations to their existing centre in Malmö, Sweden. With a fleet of 100 Nomad and Atlas vans awaiting customers, bookings for vehicles from Indie Campers’ own fleet in Finland and Norway will be available from 1st June onwards.
Following the successful September 2021 launch of the first Indie Campers US location in Los Angeles, the new centres in Norway and Finland will add even more variety to the company’s extensive international offering. Indie Campers now has centres in a total of 15 European countries, as well as four centres across the UK and Ireland.
Commenting on the new launches, Indie Campers CEO Hugo Oliveira says that the expansion within the Nordic region was a natural next step based on increased customer demand for Scandinavian routes. The new locations will bring the total number of Indie Campers’ privately-owned fleet up to over 3,000 vehicles across over 40 depots in 17 countries worldwide.
“We are incredibly excited to offer our customers two new pick-up centres in this popular region of Northern Europe,” says Oliveira. “As a start-up, it is important for us to keep our finger on the pulse of client interest and stay ahead of the curve by reacting quickly.”
“Helsinki and Oslo are two fantastic locations, allowing travellers to enjoy the best of city life before heading off into Scandinavia’s incredible outdoors. With the Northern Lights remaining a bucket list experience for many road trippers, we are now perfectly positioned to help them make their dreams come true.”
Also known as ‘The Land of the Midnight Sun’, the Kingdom of Norway is famous for its breathtaking natural scenery, including fjords, lakes, mountains and, of course, the spectacular Northern Lights, with September to March offering the best time to see the breathtaking natural phenomenon. Its capital Oslo sits on the country’s southern coast at the head of the Oslofjord and is famous for its Viking roots, many green spaces and museums, and outstanding seafood.
Finland, meanwhile, has been dubbed ‘the happiest country in the world’ for four consecutive years thanks to its excellent standard of living. It is also known as ‘The Country of a Thousand Lakes’ with no less than 187,888 bodies of water to its name, deep forests and picturesque scenery throughout the seasons. The Aurora Borealis is visible on roughly 200 nights per year. Capital city Helsinki offers visitors a beautiful sea-facing cityscape compact enough to explore on foot and boasting impressive architecture as well as mouthwatering Scandinavian cuisine.
Indie Campers will offer a number of different types of own-fleet vans to accommodate up to four people:
The medium-sized ‘Nomad’ campervan feels like a comfortable home on wheels thanks to amenities including seating and beds for four passengers, integrated heating system, interior bathroom with shower, kitchen area with sink and in-built dining table. It’s the perfect option for more demanding travellers and off-the-grid road trips in all weather conditions.
Even more spacious, the semi-integrated ‘Atlas’ model offers all the creature comforts the heart could desire, including two double beds, an integrated heating system, an interior shower and toilet, a kitchen area with fridge and sink, and an interior dining table. Added dimensions and premium furniture add a level of comfort you might not expect from a motorhome.
As well as Indie Campers’ own-fleet vehicles, a selection of private rentals is also available for bookings via the campervan marketplace.
The two new locations will offer ideal starting points for exploring some of Scandinavia’s most stunning sights and scenic routes. Adventurers looking for inspiration can get a headstart by perusing Indie Camper’s dedicated Northern Lights blog.
