LM: Can customers still buy spirits from elsewhere, as the distillery is shut until the foreseeable future?
DC: Yes our customers are still able to buy their Cotswolds Distillery favourites from Waitrose, Amazon, Laithwaites, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Fortnum and Mason, and of course, online at cotswoldsdistillery.com. There is currently free delivery for orders over the value of £25 (normally over £75).
LM: You did try Thirst Aid for a while before it ceased. What exactly was this?
DC: Thirst Aid was a free delivery initiative to keep our customers stocked whilst self-isolating. The team used the Cotswolds Distillery Land Rover to hand-deliver Cotswolds Dry Gin and Single Malt Whisky to local customers within a 20-mile radius. We originally positioned Thirst Aid for Mother’s Day to help deliver Cotswolds Distillery goodies to our customers who sadly couldn’t be with their mothers and families due to COVID-19.
LM: What is the distillery doing to keep people’s spirits up on social media?
DC: We have a real mix of things planned, from showing people how to make fabulous cocktails online, with ingredients they have at home, to our monthly music events which we are now hosting online via Facebook Live. We have aptly renamed these to “Cotswolds Distillery Sessions – Virtually Live”. Our Head of Mixology, Ollie Morris, has also created some educational videos for social media to help tell people about our products and also provide some cocktail recipes and helpful mixology tips for anyone looking for inspiration.
