BaseHall 01 and BaseHall 02 are known for being home to fine culinary talents, local brands, and live entertainment, all converging to create an extraordinary experience. BaseHall 02 is welcoming two new local vendors to its growing family this July – Victuals by The Arcane Collective and Hong Kong’s renowned Zagin Soba. Below, we look at what each has to offer.

Victuals by The Arcane Collective
Headed by chef Michael Smith (previously of Moxie), Victuals is the latest culinary endeavour by The Arcane Collective, established by celebrated chef Shane Osborn. Here, the spotlight shines on quality ingredients sourced from local and regional producers.

Chef Michael Smith’s innovative East Asian-inspired menu reimagines classic dishes with a modern twist, elevating flavours and textures for a memorable dining experience.

Dishes such as plant-based Three-Grain Mapo Tofu (HK$98) with celtuce, cauliflower and pickled carrots; Buckwheat Larb (HK$88) with mango, peanuts, vermicelli, shimeji mushroom, and grilled prawns; and Chilled Spicy Soba (HK$98) with chilli tahini, garlic cucumber, and pickled daikon, exemplify Chef Smith’s commitment to crafting modern cuisine that resonates with today’s discerning palate.

Shane Osborn expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming launch of Victuals at BaseHall 02, “I am so excited for this next chapter for Michael Smith and the core members of the Moxie team, who will open our latest venture, Victuals by The Arcane Collective on 15th July at BaseHall 02.”

“Continuing Moxie’s original commitment to conscious dining, the menu at Victuals will focus on delicious, healthy, plant-forward dishes such as the buckwheat larb with mango, peanuts and vermicelli that can be enjoyed with or without high-quality fish and meat proteins.”

Zagin Soba
Zagin Soba, a distinguished addition to BaseHall 02, specialises in the art of crafting rich and indulgent chicken-based “Tori Paitan” broth ramen, hailing from the vibrant city of Osaka, Japan. Known for its luscious and creamy broth, Zagin Soba offers a delectable dining experience that elevates comfort food to new heights.

The noodles, characterised by their medium thickness, smooth texture, and satisfying chewiness, perfectly complement the flavourful broth. Toppings include succulent chicken, crispy burdock, and fresh spring onion, adding layers of taste and texture to every bowl.

Since its establishment in Happy Valley in 2017 and now with four shops in total, including the latest opening inside BaseHall 02, the inaugural Zagin Soba in Hong Kong swiftly rose to prominence as one of the city’s premier ramen destinations, drawing accolades from both publications and online food communities.

With three bustling locations that consistently attract long queues in Happy Valley, Central and Tai Koo Shing, Zagin Soba has now unveiled its fourth instalment at BaseHall 02, offering patrons a chance to savour its acclaimed signature dishes.

The menu will feature favourites like the “Tsukemen” Signature Chicken Sauce Dipping Ramen (HK$178), Chicken Soup Ramen (HK$158), and Seafood and Chicken Soup Ramen (HK$158), alongside a tempting array of side dishes, including Japanese-style Fried Chicken (HK$58) and Burdock Fried Rice (HK$58).

Get ready to experience the culinary excellence that has made Zagin Soba a beloved name in the realm of Hong Kong’s ramen scene, now conveniently located at BaseHall 02.

As a place to celebrate Hong Kong and its homegrown talents, BaseHall continues to experiment with brave new culinary ideas and events, championing the food and people that make one of the world’s greatest cities so unique.
