The Indy 500 was outstanding race even though the disappointment was obvious in the F.P.Journe clan after technical problems forced the withdrawel of Jean Alesi from the race.
The technical problems of the engine in Jean Alesi’s which appeared during the trial have unfortunately confirmed during the race.
Jean Alesi declared: “Frustration is a part of my job. We worked very hard and it is very difficult not to be on the circuit anymore but this regulation is fair. From the first day that I arrived, saw the car and met my team, I understood that we had to work hard, and we did. The engine was not competitive straightaway lacking horsepower and we had to deal with it. We tried many things to avoid the lack of performance, but it could not be overcome. I’ve learned a lot about the oval racing discipline, and I’ve enjoyed it tremendously, surrounded by fantastic people, and passionate fans. I leave with a lot of respect for the Indy 500, an event I’ve followed from afar for many years. I want to return next year, I will start to prepare now.”
Of course it was a broad disappointment for the F.P.Journe clan, however the experience will remain unforgettable for the numerous guests of the brand invited to Indianapolis for this memorable weekend. It was also the occasion to discover the Limited Series realised in homage to the partnership with Jean Alesi, a unique version of the Octa Sport in blackened aluminium and black dial adorned with the Indy 500 logo, Alesi’s signature and rubber strap.
The exclusive Jean Alesi Octa Sport Limited Series of 99 pieces, numbered 501 to 599, will be unveiled in a couple of days.
