That most precious and exceptional of Scotch whiskies, Johnnie Walker Blue Label has gotten a brand new façade which showcases the historic Island of Penang in Malaysia.
Collaborating with London-based illustrator Shan Jiang, the new bespoke Johnnie Walker Blue Label Limited Edition Penang Design celebrates the exotic island of Penang with lavish illustrations featuring iconic emblems from this island in Malaysia.
A private event was held recently at the historic Majestic Theatre in George Town, Penang to celebrate the launch of this limited edition Penang Design.
Invited guests arrived in this unique location and were ushered to the upper floor to mingle with one another as well as savour three specially concocted cocktails – Whisky Sour, Old Fashioned and Johnnie Walker On the Rocks, all of which contained Johnnie Walker Blue Label whisky.
Two fortune-tellers were on hand to give readings to the VIP guests who were interested in their future and fortune, while an exclusive mentoring session was conducted by brand ambassador Jeremy Lee.
When it was time for dinner, guests were led downstairs to the main theatre hall to be seated and were greeted by an LED-lighted dragon dance troupe, which created a joyous and vibrant atmosphere.
A nine-course dinner followed, and in between, guests wandered to the specially-designed bars to admire this Limited Edition Penang Design, which has the illustrations of a dragon dance, the Kek Lok Si Temple (the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia) as well as striking red lanterns emblazoned on the distinctive square bottle.
A performance combining the music of Sara Heng and speed painter Haze Long was a painting finished on stage and gifted to the biggest spender of the evening.
Copious amounts of Johnnie Walker Blue Label were served throughout the evening, with most guests lapping up every single drop of this smooth, precious elixir with hints of hazelnut, honey and oranges at first taste, followed by ginger, sandalwood and dark chocolate.
With hints of pepper and dried fruit foreclosing your taste buds, it ends with a long and lingering finish of soft smoke.
Only one in 10,000 casks of perfectly aged rare whiskies maturing in the Johnnie Walker reserves consisting of over 10 million casks can be bottled as the Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
