Le Cattedrali Relais is a contemporary hotel located atop a hill in a wood that merges multi-Michelin-starred Chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo’s haute cuisine with art, music and the wonders of Asti. The new addition to the LAQUA Collection is located in Monferrato, Piedmont and will be opening its doors on February 8th, 2024.
Le Cattedrali Relais is a 5-star luxury Hotel in Valleandona, a few kilometres from Asti. One thing that makes it stand out in Piedmont’s hospitality is its elegance and care towards guests. Today, it becomes the 5th property in the LAQUA Collection and the second in Piedmont, joining LAQUA by the Lake in Pettenasco, Lake Orta.
“The vision of LAQUA Collection is to offer guests memorable stays and experiences, thanks to a long-established expertise, perfected over the years, that ranges from gourmet cuisine and guest reception to heart-felt services.
The atmosphere and the design of our homes create a continuum along the whole collection and contribute to warm and welcoming hospitality, perfectly integrated into the environment they’ve been built in,” said Cinzia Primatesta, who leads the group LAQUA Collection with her husband, Antonino Cannavacciuolo.
“I took inspiration from nature to create Le Cattedrali”, – said Livio Negro, founder of Le Cattedrali Relais, adding, “I wanted lightness and grandness, authenticity and beauty to reign in this place.
“The elegant shapes of the Relais, which in many ways resonate with nature, blend in with the wood, the paths, the smells and colours, the history and taste of this multi-faceted and surprising land. This part of Piedmont is renowned for its important historical and cultural heritage and some of the most precious products, such as truffle, wine and exquisite local varieties of hazelnuts.
“An enchanting landscape of woods and rolling hills, vineyards, borgos, ancient villas, Romanic churches and Medieval castles are finally the elements that make the Monferrato region a unique bucket list destination”.
Le Cattedrali Relais offers thirteen rooms and suites and a wellness area with an outdoor swimming pool. Crowning the whole experience is Chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo’s fine dining at Cannavacciuolo Le Cattedrali Asti restaurant, which will bring the Chef’s philosophy to the Langhe region for the first time.
The taste experience is completed by the impressive wine cellar, which houses more than 2000 national and international labels, with an outstanding collection of bottles from Piedmont to reinforce the connection with the territory.
All areas boast modern and essential design pieces and international handicrafts. The rooms and suites range in size from 43 to 133 mq and are enhanced by furniture made by the most important Italian designers.
In addition, the Relais offers guests a Wellness Area with a sauna, steam bath, Vitarium, and an outdoor heated pool for a stay devoted to total relaxation.
Everything is integrated with a large green space: a park where you can also find a little open-air theatre, perfect for hosting concerts and performances to enjoy the beauty of nature.
The theatre also bears the signature of British contemporary artist David Tremlett, who transformed it into a piece of living art.
Passionate about this area (some of his most popular pieces are the Barolo Chapel in La Morra and the Moscato Chapel in Coazzolo), Tremlett has used the wall drawing technique to redress the main façade and the gallery of the theatre in warm colours, blending it even more with its natural setting.
A Padel and Pickleball court complete the Relais’ outdoor experiences, plus a helipad is available for the guests right within the park.
The management of the hotel is entrusted to Massimo Chiappo Buratti, whose career in the field includes more than 25 years of leading international roles in Switzerland, China, Taiwan, Germany, Great Britain, and Italy.
Massimo, who is fond of gastronomy and wine and is always searching for the latest trends and innovative ideas, said, “Since the beginning, Le Cattedrali Relais has been perceived as a reference point and reason of pride for the whole area. Its creation has involved many companies and local professionals, and it has had an important impact on Asti’s entrepreneurship.
This Project – continues the Hotel Manager – represents a unicum for its particular location and for the inestimable value of the interior and exterior areas that make it a rare pearl in the international scene”.
